A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

wsbk and wss starts again this weekend

I was bummed that Speed was not covering WSBK this year as I liked to DVR the races and watch them Sunday night. Comcast offers BEIN in our area but we did not have it. I checked out their website and it looked like we would need to upgrade our package to get BEIN at a cost of about $15 per...

    Repair shop Needed

Yes, do the o-rings first. I had this same issue on my '83 1000E a few years ago. While you're at it replace the valve cover and hopefully you'll be good to go. Joe

    Stock exhaust vs aftermarket

Just my opinion but I think the Dynojet kit is the way to go. I'm not sure what bike you have but many of the Dynojet kits comprise of stage 1 and stage 3 kits. The stage 1 kit is for stock bikes and stage 3 is for bikes with aftermarket pipe and PODs. They come with several different main jets...

    Stock exhaust vs aftermarket

Yes, exhaust alone won't give much performance gain. You will likely lose a bit of mid-range and gain top end. If you don't want to go with PODs, opening up the airbox and adding a Stage 1 jet kit will liven the bike up noticeably. You will also lose some weight and gain noise. Even adding a...

emulator questions for joe nardy, posplayer, and saltymonk

I did not block off the anti-dive units, just removed the hydraulic line and plugged the banjo bolt hole with a regular bolt. I am using Progressive springs, a bit more than 2 turns and 20 wt. fork oil. It is a bit stiffer than I'd like but I prefer that to too soft. I will probably swap to 10...

Rear Ride Height: A pet peeve fixed for about $10

Nick, Another less expensive option is Ikon shocks. They may not be as good as Ohlins but they are very nice. They build them to your weight and riding style and can make them longer if you like. I have a set of 1 inch longer Ikons on my '83 1100E and I love them. The added rear ride height...

Another Dream Machine in the Garage.

Very nice bike. Back in the early 90's one of my best friends had a '90 FJ1200 while I had an '88 CB1000F (Hurricane). We both had Corbin seats and aftermarket slip-ons, Yosh on the FJ, Supertrapp on the Hurricane. We took many trips on those bikes and both were rock solid. We never had any...

Ride Report - Katana Australia State of Origin Ride

Great pics! It is awesome to see all those Kats (especially spokers) out on the road. I have never seen more than one at a time here in the states, and that is usually mine. There are two at the Barber Museum though. Thanks, Joe

    Daytona 200 is coming

I have always wanted to attend Daytona but never made it happen. It appears this may be the year. I will likely be attending some training in Boca Raton beginning the Monday after the races. I'm going to try to go to Daytona for a few days before the training. Joe

new qualifying program for moto GP

I'm betting this change was made to appease the top riders who frequently complain about slower riders ruining their qualifying laps. This has been a problem for some time as riders slow down dramatically on the track to wait for a faster rider to come by and give them a tow to improve their lap...

The plate has been welded on because they cut the cover at an angle to improve ground clearance. Thanks, Joe

    Old Magazine articles

Yes, your work is greatly appreciated! Actually, yes. I definitely married a keeper 15 years later and "What's Her Name" was a bit flighty and would never have made a good wife. But she did have some good points which are hard to forget......real hard.:dancing: Thanks again, Joe

    Old Magazine articles

Sir, you are my hero! I have been trying to find a copy of the below Kerker ad for years. Back in the mid 80's I was dating a young lady that had an uncanny resemblance to the woman in this ad. Other than the fact that my '83 1100E had a Supertrapp pipe this pic could have been taken on my bike...

Please help me understand and select chain and sprockets

Chain lubes contain chemicals which allow it to spray thinly and freely but then evaporate to leave a thick, tacky lube behind. Feel the chain after a few minutes, it will not feel thin any more.

    BMW K1100RS Spline Lube

Bob, check your voice mail. I have some Honda Moly 60 lube that is supposed to be one of the best spline lubes available. You are welcome to have all you need. Thanks, Joe

    BMW K1100RS Spline Lube

Very ambitious project Bob. And to think you were impressed that I started my yearly winter projects this early by doing a chain and sprocket change last weekend. I feel so unproductive now........:(

Please help me understand and select chain and sprockets

As Tom said, try pulling the chain straight back away from the rear sprocket. If you are able to easily pull the chain away it is likely both the chain and sprocket are bad. With a new chain and sprocket you will barely be able to pull the chain away from the sprocket. Joe
