A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    High Altitude GS1000

The last time I spent a week in the Colorado Rocky mountains with my 79 GS 1000, the only adjustment necessary was to open the side air screws 1/2 turn each. Bike ran just fine with more air being used. YMMV. Let us know what you did and how it worked for you.

Also, it is NOT recommended to use a fuel filter in line. But if you do, you can get one for a garden tractor maybe at Bomgaars or Tractor supply.

    GS1000 Fuel Flow Problems

Hey, welcome to the site. I am sometimes a resident in the area of Millard West high school. 29 miles from Blair. I put a Pingel fuel tap on my GS1000E and I think it's great-----so long as I remember to turn it off after riding. I have forgot it a couple of times but my float valves did...

    !@#$% Tube!

If replacing the stems, you could do yourself a favor and get the 90 degree ones. Makes checking pressure and refilling a breeze.

    Is it worth it?

Welcome to the forum. DO NOTHING to this bike until you have read member Nessism's top 10 newbie mistakes. Not following this advice will give you every opportunity to re-do everything a second time. Especially the carb cleaning.

    Symptoms of a rusty tank?

Try removing the carb float bowls. When I had rust in my tank, it would show up in the float bowls and where do you think it went from there? Yep, right into the carburetor and would cause lots of trouble. If you have rust in the the tank, removing the float bowls will let you see the small...

Hi Dave, Hope everything in your world is well. In response to your post in the pic of the week game, yes, I have purchased a southern home. Back in November the wife and I were in Harrison, Arkansas seeing if there was anything that was what we could live with and sure enough, we found one...

Well, that explains why my teacher flunked me in geography class. I just thought she was being mean to me. edit: I've actually crossed that same stretch of highway but it was back in the early 80's. Yes, I should go ride it again sometime.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Then that makes a big difference. I saw a guy riding a Harley this morning and the temperature was 37. Of course, he was not wearing the proper gear for those temps and he looked like he was freezing his go-nads off. Didn't even have a helmet on.
