    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Centerstand Interchangeability

Missing a centerstand for your GS1100E? Well, I found out today that the centerstand from a pre-80's GS1000 fits perfectly on my '82 1100E. Not that it's staying there, but works great if you need to change tires.

    what did we miss?

Could be a number of things, clogged passage(s), improper float height, etc. You'll have to explain what your process/definition of "carb rebuild" was. That'll help narrow it down.

    Another infamous R/R question

GS850 that I sold last summer.....had a used Honda R/R installed on it last year when the Electrex went toast on it. Owner (friend of mine) brought it over to me today, asked if I could help him, his battery appears to be not charging correctly. Hooked up the voltmeter (with good battery in...

Trouble getting old bike to Start

Re: Trouble getting old bike to Start If it truly has a new battery in it, it's not the stator that's preventing it from starting any at all. A new battery should easily run a bike for an hour, without the stator charging. I would bet the carbs are either not properly cleaned, or they're...

Rear caliper in bad shape what now?

If you don't have an air compressor, hook the caliper back up to your brake line (but not installed on the bike), and (with fluid in the reservoir), use the brake pedal to force it out.

Those %$#@! crush washers for brake lines

I have to admit, I've also always re-used mine. And I didn't use a torque wrench.......basically just tightened it to the point where it seems I could feel the crush washer compress. I know, probably just my imagination, but it's always worked......never a leak. :D

    Rear tire sizing....

Almost every tire manufacturer, on their website, has a chart stating which tire sizes are good for what size rims. Vary too much from that, and you're probably asking for trouble.

    Wheel Rim - Should I Worry ?

Pete wrote: Not necessarily the case, Pete. I hit a markerstone last year (another story).....it bent one side of the stock alloy rim in almost an inch - no break in the material at all. I'd bet that's probably exactly what it is....a dent from "dinking" a kerb.
