    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    my experience with 1200 bandits.......... the pilot jets(jet) are small from gunk build up. i had a guy that i used to clean his carbs twice a year from it sitting for months at a time...true story!

    i had one come out the top and bottom of the engine cases....call it junk! stock 1100 with a pipe and 33's. oh, wasn't even my bike....i know better :)

    i have only used an impact gun my whole life...7 second GS's to factory stock. let it rattle a few seconds with the clutch pack installed and fold the tab over...call it good.

    small diameter rotor and small taper crank on 83 1100 kat engines. i would rather have an 83 E/ES with the large taper and not worry about a little thicker beam rods myself :) that small taper will bite you in the arse.....

    ride it and see... with the clutches removed there is zero engagement because of it...hence no drag.

    rule of thumb on these clutches... after tightening the large nut always make sure the inner hub turns...if not you fubared the assembly process.

    the basket is NOT engaged into the oil pump gear properly. this will cause DIRECT DRIVE.

    why not use the lobe center method? 16 valve GS's have kinda square lobes...the above is what i use.

    on a GS you can drop the cam chain into the case and it not fall off of the sprocket. also this piece is used for the front CC slide bar to engage into. depending on the expense of parts being installed into these cases/engine build...that to me would be the determining factor. you don't spend...

    i tried gast plates and they was to aggressive on 1100/1150's. i always just paid more so as not to have headaches or customer's bitching about clutch drag....can't find neutral ect..

    big GS's with a live clutch and helical gears can be a pain because of the creep factor. big mechanical carbs on a stock engine can be a pain also on a short no bar bike. just a trial and error thing...

    OEM all the way....don't believe the hype of after market clutch fibers.

    your drive train IMO is already loaded from clutch drag and if you have helical gears it is for sure loaded.

    make one from a regular sprocket... in the past i watched a well known chassis builder making offset sprockets from PBI flat sprockets. machine the center/add tube/fit center that you removed/true/weld... add nose if necessary/required.
