    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    What did I buy again?

I remember that bike. A fine example of the breed, for sure! Welcome to the forum. We have more than a few members down your way.

    83 750ES tuning/odd idle

Well, the glib answer is buy the carbs, and if they don't work out, get a nice classic muscle bike to complement them... Maybe one of the race guys will have a real answer for you.

Cylinder stops firing when bike heats up

What is the material clogging the jets? Rust? Tank liner? Plastic? Metal bits? Gasoline varnish (probably not)?

    Won?t Start GS550T 😕

If stored with fuel in the carbs then there is a really good chance it is as BigT suggests... I negligently forgot to run my 550 out of fuel when I parked it, thinking I would be riding more, but...you guessed it, it'll fire up and run, but only on #s 3 and 4. Time for a spring cleaning for me...

    Vacuum leak?

Yes, pretty much anywhere rubber meets metal or plastic has the potential for leaking. I've seen worse clamping methods, but that definitely has the potential to pucker the rubber and cause a leak. The clamp itself should only be around $6.00

What is the technical name for the triple tree part?

The default was and apparently still is no notifications for responses. You can change that in your General Settings (under Forum Actions) at the top of the page. You might have to subscribe to a thread to get the notifications. I think it might automatically subscribe you as the OP. Note that...

    I had a crash...a big one!

Well heck, how are you suppose to go all "Champ" on someone like that? I hope your turn for the hip rolls around quickly. Surgeries are so far behind right now because of COVID. There just aren't enough surgeons to fill the operating theatres and address the backlog.

    82 650 katana

I suspect the one you got would have been for the GS650GL. The one for the Katana bars is quite a bit shorter. I ended up ordering a GS1000S cable for my 650 when I went to a shorter bar. It ended up being just enough length to work

    I had a crash...a big one!

I don't see those two positions from the surgeon as incompatible. The original statement was made before the surgeon knew your commitment level. There is a case to be made that physio, poorly done, can actually be detrimental to positive healing.

    1981 Suzuki GS650L on BaT....

In my opinion, the extra effort the seller made in listing that bike paid off in spades.

(first time owner) looking for hand control advice on '82 GS300L

Four (4!) posts from you and we haven't seen a photo of this little beauty ;). They don't come around that often, so let's see 'er. Maybe over in the GS Owners sub-forum? (hint, hint)

tarpaulin motorcycle cover - where ?

Well, since the EC declared tarp to be a protected species, it's become increasingly difficult to find product. Perhaps there is something available out of the Black or Caspian Sea black market? Seriously, though. Oiled canvas is still the best thing since sliced bread. These guys seem dear...

    Police over-reach?

I'm not usually one to call you out on some of the crazier things you come up with, but I have absolutely no idea how you could think the POs actions are responsible or warranted

    GS650G & Me

Interesting note about the short seat model. Pit Replica is great at making up covers from versions sent to them, and it could be they are listing it on incorrect information. Some models (E) have a flat seat, but as far as I know the "G" only came with the stepped version. That could makeup...
