    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    if you take small cover off lh side of sprocket cover 3 bolts you have a grease nipple for the mechanism that pushes on clutch rod . make sure clutch cable is routed right too .

    when I fitted some new studs to my 550 I used a threebond threadlock red high temp and high strength .cant remember which one it would be on there website . you don't have to tighten studs up that tight so that sounds about right. my nos studs came with no sealant on them.

    clean tank out with metal prep or similar then use solder to solder up pin holes. worth practicing your soldering skills on scrap metal first. easer than welding and patching,

    also if you remove sump don't forget o ring about 20mm size inside the oil pan it seals part of oilway from the oilpan!easily lost:stung: also blow out bolt holes before refitting as some are blind holes and you don't want to hydraulic them

    Removed oilpan on mine by removing fuel tank first then tipping bike on its side for easy access. I have a gel battery so didnt need t remove it either. Easier to see all bolts and to clean up gasket surface.

    I have found when removing valve seals its a good idea to heat them with a small butane torch to soften /burn them making it easier to pull off with long nose pliers.

    Also might be good idea to use loctite threadlock on your nuts and bolts as you check other bolts!!

    if solenoid not clicking check power at starter switch bad switch maybe .little wire on solonid is it 12v when pushing starter. if it is it is your solenoid switch

    thanks for kind offer, I think I will decline using new one unless I learn it is a genuine gs550part. as it definately looks a lot weaker .I will try and return it!! Have ordered a later new one now for my peace of mind. My replated axle shaft is very worn and badly grooved.

    If you don't here from me again, it means it was not as good as later axle !!! its got a 5mm hole through from one end to the other. never been used in original packaging with right numbers and sticker?

    Bought a nos rear axle for my gs550E 1979 it arrived and is same as old one but hollow. 17mm diameter I have not seen a hollow one before:confused:. its part no 64711-38210.any body know what I should torque rear axle nut up to? cant find any figures anywhere.
