A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Champagne 83' GS1100E

LOL, I've seen that way too many times. I do have to admit that I have seen some rattle can jobs that look so good that you couldn't tell but then a couple years later it's obvious.

    Champagne 83' GS1100E

The single biggest problem you have in trying to match the paint and also the reason the paints are no longer available is because the state of California outlawed certain color pigments because they contained lead or had bad isotopes. One thing I keep thinking about in this particular...

    Champagne 83' GS1100E

This will give you an idea of what I did. The side covers and the Cafe Fairing were painted with the paint from the Dodge Ram and you see how well it matched. You can do the exact same thing for the Suzuki Chamgagne Gold.

    Champagne 83' GS1100E

Okay, here's the scoop. You ask the question about paint, you're gonna get all kinds of responses which will tell you to take it down to a paint store or a body shop and have the paint color matched. That's all fine and good however, it will pretty much lead you nowhere. I did the exact same...

One of the coolest part of my new old GS

My bike gets a lot of attention. It seems that whenever I pull up to the gas station I get into a conversation with someone about my bike, most of the time it's great but every now and then it gets annoying if I'm in a rush. Sometimes when I would go to a weekly car gathering, my bike would...

    Helmet Visor fog and rain

Another thing that works is "Mask Clear" which is used normally for SCUBA diving. It comes in a small bottle that you could carry in your pocket if you want.

    Aftermarket turn signal suggestions

I bought an LED brake light bulb that is supposed to be a drop in replacement for the existing incandescent bulb, it fit but, I had no luck with it at all. The Brake light upgrade that I installed has only one thing in common with the OEM brake light system and that is the switch activation. I...

    Aftermarket turn signal suggestions

Just my personal preference but, I took the large paddle turn signals off of my bike and replaced them with the smaller rabbit ear signals. There are many here who will tell you all the reasons why you should not change the signals and they have some good points however, the lights that I used...

    Pic of the week game

So, the bike wasn't utilizing the side stand OR the center stand? And that bungee and hanger rack supported all that weight? I guess that the bungee and most especially the hanger rack are much stronger than I ever would have imagined. I'm amazed!

    Pic of the week game

I am really curious, what is the purpose of the bungee cord attached to the handlebars and hanger rack? If the bike starts to fall, the bungee won't stop it, most likely it'll pull the rack off the wall.

I give a vote to Roger Burque73, the contrast is what did it for me. I've been extremely busy lately and hoping to get back into this as soon as possible.

    Long haul bike shipper

I used this one https://motorcycleshippers.com to ship mine in 2008, they did a phenomenal job with the ship. I had it shipped (actually my wife had my bike shipped) from Portland Oregon to my house here in Pearland, Texas which is a suburb of Houston. They have a tracker so you know pretty...

    Another zip tie method

At one point, I kept sneaking off with my wife's hairspray and eventually she got tired of it so she bought me my own, I'm so lucky to have such a considerate wife. :)

    Another zip tie method

I'll stick to using hairspray, always works well. Just because you use the tie straps to slide it on doesn't mean it'll be secure on the bar and not slip whereas the hairspray not only allows it to slide on, it also helps secure it and keep it from slipping.

Short video and description on "counter-steering"

It has to be an instinctive reaction because if you have to think about what you need to do, it's too late, you're done. The guy in the video panicked and tried to think it through and you could see the result. It was obvious he was fighting between instinct and thought.

Short video and description on "counter-steering"

I had done counter steering to avoid a couple accidents back in '80 and '81, I didn't have a clue what it was, it was just instinctive. I started riding motorcycles riding motocross and there are many things that you do instinctively that carry over to riding street, this was just one of them...
