A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OOhhh, you're needing a lot, good luck... Are you sure about your "79" GS1100L, I didn't think Suzuki ever made such an animal.

    New to the site!

Welcome, good luck with the bike as well as finding help... Are you sure picture 3 is the same bike as picture 1 and 2??? I would have never thunk it, it sure looks different. You've done a lot of stuff so far... Keep it up and keep us update.

1100E, Buy a Rescue project or Not?

Well, 30K and not running, price seems a little steep. if you were looking for a project anyway I'd probably say yes, give it a go. ... If you just saw it and thought that is cheap, I'll buy it, fix it up, and make some money on it, I think I'd probably sit back and scratch my head a little more...

    Dolly Parton is gone...

Hard to imagine. Just a wk. or so ago she was on TV apologizing for either rescheduling or canceling a show in Los Vegas, looked good then as usual... Been around over 60 yrs. and right now I'm not remembering any scams nor negatives which is pretty rare.

Well, after Baatfam's picture I don't think it will matter too much... Dang I've seen his picture about 63 times now and still click on it again every now and then.

    Surface rust on chrome

Gosh too long ago. Don't remember eagle one, for sure no bird on the can nor silver can. Back then was a red & blue can with white writing, just figured Never Dull was the brand. It was like this stuff you put on here, a wadding material with the solution already soaked in it. I's thinking it...

    Starter motor - dead - gs550e 1980

Hopefully your fix will be fine. No pressure or wear, just got to make the connection to carry the current. Positive thing, if or when it fails, you'll got an idea where to look for fault.

    How many clutch plates?

Got me wondering, there's got to be a reason for the question

    Gsxr750 head on a GS500e

Well, I'd wondered if you were joking or not. A four cyl head on a 2 cyl eng sure had the look of a joke... But we never know. I remember, back in the day, somebody was taking 2 GS1100 engines and making V8's out of them and once read of 2 KZ1300 6cyl. engines being put together to make a V12...

    Gsxr750 head on a GS500e

Hope you find some pictures, I'd love to see hose 2 GSXR 750 combustion chambers sticking out each side of the eng with no cyl nor pistons underneath them. Seems would look stranger than a BMW.

Thoughts about the website in general

Agreed, for sure an excellent idea.

    Gsxr750 head on a GS500e

It may work, but would sure look odd with the 2 outer 750 combustion chambers sticking out either side with no cylinders nor pistons under them... I don't remember reading where anybody has tried that upgrade "yet"

    Pic of the week game

Dang it, hard again this week cause I can closely relate to a few of these regret entries... But voting for steve murdoch. Like him, a bunch of years ago, I too had a blur "78" GS1000C, like him I owned it twice and like him sold it twice. Probably regret selling it more today than ever before.

    Frame brace kits 82 GS1100E

I was kind'f wondering the same thing.

    Warped sprocket?

Maybe both... The more the merrier.

    Warped sprocket?

Welcome ShopDog, glad you found us and came aboard... Hate to, this early, but got to ask, where did you learn of misaligning a rear wheel to correct a warped sprocket or anything else? It may work, I don't know, but sure sounds kind'f different.

    GS500E rebuild, 1989 style

Replaced a rod bearing on "another" GS500, happy it wasn't a roller bearing... Do you realize if they had been roller bearings you'd most likely never had a crank or crank bearing problem? It just rarely happens. Of course just my opinion. Good luck with your project, looks like doing good..
