A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. I hate polishing aluminum..but..

After scrubbing them both with 120, I used the drill and sanding disks to get rid of as many pits as I could. There was a ton of them. 180 grit was next which got the covers pretty well prepped for the finer grits to follow. So much hand sanding ahead..argh.. Four hours later..these babies...

    I hate polishing aluminum..but..

..when a good friend who helped you do an engine swap asks if you can do up a pair of valve covers like the ones on the engine he just helped you with.. how can I say no. These are the vintage Mickey Thompson valve covers he brought me. I'm thinking the process on these would be the...

what did you wrench on today??

Nice 1st Gen Corvette..and a fuelie to boot. Mine was in that stage before painting it black. It's a ton of work to get a nice finished paint job on a fiberglass car. Please post up a finished pick or 2. Thanks for sharing his progress.

what did you wrench on today??

I've always liked the stealthy look of this car, too, Steve. It's subtle on purpose. Thanks for the compliment.

what did you wrench on today??

Thanks for the kind words, Rob. I too was blown away the 1st time I saw the new C3 in '68. I was only 13 at the time and bought this one when I was 20. I drove it year round for 5 years because it was the only car I had after selling everything I owned to get the $3500 I needed to buy it...

what did you wrench on today??

That's strange, Ed. Usually all it takes is a search under 383 and it pops right up. Mine was a black painted block with aluminum heads and chrome valve covers.

what did you wrench on today??

No. It started out as a 350ci with a 400ci crank and then modified to 383ci. The engine blows me away with the torque it has

what did you wrench on today??

I didn't work on my bike this weekend but I did get my '68 Corvette out of it's 2 year hibernation. The original 300hp 327, which I had rebuilt back in the late 70's, was faithful for 40+ years but was getting tired. It took me awhile to save the money for the new engine. So, with the help...

    From 78c to 79s clone

Hey, Chuck. Could yo do me a favor and post your r/r swap. Electrical procedures just don't click in my little pea-brain w/o pictures. What factory color wires go where and connect to what..that kinda thing..thanks in advance. Getting very anxious to see this bike whole again. Red & White...

Source for rearsets for GS1100? Anyone make a reasonable bolt-on set?

Tarozzi all the way. The ones on my S model bolted right on in about 15 minutes w/o any modifications and have performed flawlessly for almost 11 years now. $300 at the time, but worth it for the quality.

    Picked another GS1000

A Windjammer SS fairing with lowers. That was a desirable setup. Made cool weather riding very comfortable. Too bad so many people dis them now.

    Why paint a PT Cruise..?

I bought these wheels from a company in California called Wheelsmith. These were the first set for a PT Cruiser he made. The're 16" Smoothies. The caps and wheel trim were/are also available through his business. I think I paid around $600 for the set, but that was almost 20 years ago. They...

    1980 GS850 Rebuild

Really nice job on the seat pan and tail section. I'll look forward to your paint scheme for it. The C clamps hanging by the tank kinda freak me out a bit..:D

    Can this be done?

Amazing talent. Check out the lady doing the BMW stripes, too. No measurements, nothing, just skilled eyes and hands. It takes me hours and hours to measure mask and spray stripes to accomplish what they do in just a few minutes by hand.

    Can this be done?

Part of the problem is even someone like 3M just don't make a variety of pin stripe tape anymore. It's not like in the 60s-80s when almost all cars and bikes came with pin stripes. New cars and bikes don't have them anymore so the demand for it has almost dried up except basically for the...

    Can this be done?

I think if you try to sand the clear you'll get into the base coat quicker then most people would think..especially in that lower right corner. I'm assuming the grey color is the pin stripe's backing..? Again hard to feather back and try to match the color. My opinion would be having to bite...

    Back to bikes

Just saw that you posted some finish pics, Mal. Wow! I hardly ever get a chance to see parts I've painted back on the bike. That baby turned out nice. You were worried the rest of the bike would look dull compared to the paint, but the end result looks fantastic. What a beauty. Glad to...
