If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    GS/GSXR 16V Valve Lift/Diameter

Thanks Jim.. Glad to help. Your head (on my bench) flows about 10 feet (cfm) better than a stock 1150 head. Should be a good performer. The 'most flow with the smallest port'... (street) Hold onto that rack for me..I am out of town now but will be intouch next week. thanks buddy. Terry

    GS/GSXR 16V Valve Lift/Diameter

Jim, I used an '81 GS1100 EX intake cam in my sons '81 GS750EX. This is with porting and backcut valves with stock 23 and 20 mm valves. His bike is a strong performer and pulles very hard from down low to red line. It also has a V&H four into one with the 530 drive chain conversion. Rejetted...

    Replacing piston rings, what else?

I believe the vac. port is on the #2 carb.. Use a ball hone on the cylinders and go with new OEM rings if using OEM pistons. Go thru the head with new seals and have the valves re-seated (valve job), have the valves back cut 37 degrees this will pick up low-mid lift flow a bunch. If your...

    other engine for 550 E

Yes the L and E engines are the same. Also 1977 up thru 1982 the 550's were pretty much the same engine. To varify look at the lower front of the cylinder and it should have a 549 cm cast in the cylinder if it is indeed a 550. Terry

    cylinder bores

If for rebuilding without over boring. I feel stones are too course and can scratch the bores. Like most here I feel the ball hone is the way too go. Lube the bore down with 30 wt. motor oil. Use 280-320 and go fast thru the bore back and forth about 60 times a minute. For about 20-45...

    85mph speedo guys...how fast am I going??

Steve and Tkent02 are absolutley correct ! You DO have a mechanical 'link' between crank and rear wheel. NO fluid coupling . If you double speed...then rpm is doubled. And the reverse is also true. Try it for yourselves. Take it up to 40mph and note rpm..run it on up to 80mph and...

    81 GS750E Valve adjustment questions

You also should use a torque wrench for the valve cover bolts. The torque on these are only 7.0 Ft.lbs. that is only 84 inch lbs. NOT very much. many GS'ers have pulled these threads. Sears sells a good inch pound wrench for cheap. A very good investment for your maintainenance program...

    Engine differences: 1980 - 1983 GS1100E

What he said... Also,.. a radius valve job has only one angle and that is the 45 degree seat the valve seats (sits) on. Instead of having a top cut (angle) and botton cut (angle) above and below the actual seat, a radius cutter leaves a very nice, smooth radius cut above the 45 seat...

    Engine differences: 1980 - 1983 GS1100E

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Suzuki changed the seat angles on the head for the '81 and later models. If you will remember ,..the '80 GS1100 went 11.49 @ 116 mph. Still the best of the rest at the time. The '81 model clocked 11.18 @ 120. slightly Better numbers than...

    clutch cable problems?

I think the problem is where the cable is breaking. See if you can see what the problem or binding is right in the area where it breaks. Does it break in the same place each time or does it break in different places ? If in the same place there has to be evidence at that spot. Is something...

    Removing Gas from a Tank

I would flush it out with water, then pour in a pint of denatured alcohol. That will fast dry and take with it any fuel residue. Should be safe after that. This is the time to coat inside with tank sealer. Yes..cover the openings while sanding and painting. Terry

    Top end oiling issue

Larry D, sorry about your situation with your bike. My son has a 1981 GS750E 16 valve motor, when he picked up used , it had 27000 on it. It also had a ticking under the valve cover. It had the same oiling issue, oil starvation at the number 1 journals, int. and exh. Both cams were...

    1166 dyno info

Rob, Not bad . I assume that dynoing the bike means a chassis dyno. BIG difference between crank and rear wheel numbers. 131 at the wheel is really close to the 150 mark at the crank. Did this engine have any head work ? Head work really amplify's the mods you do. These 1166 engines...
