I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Conti Classic Attack radials

Sorry about not following the thread; I was out of town. My 1979 GS 1000 has an 18" rear. I've used Conti K111/RB2s and Dunlops, but I'd like to try radials. As to the cost, if they handle better, I feel like they're cheaper than my life. I like to get any advantage I can out there. I plan to...

    1982 850 forks and a 1979 GS 1000

I'm looking at a set of 1982 GS 850 forks (tube diameter 37 mm) to see if I can use them to convert my bike to dual front disc brakes. I did a search, but did not find any kind of interchange list. The tubes should slip into my triples, but I don't know how the length is compared to my forks...

    Vibes, long warm-up, and jetting

Check that you have spark at all cylinders. I had a coil fail and lost spark on 1&4, and when I started it for the season, it seemed to run rough, but not as bad as I would have expected, and pulled pretty well. After finding the bad coil and replacing it, it ran a LOT better!

adding an oil cooler 1979 gs750

The usual takeoff point for this vintage bike is to remove the oil-pressure switch plate and replace it with an adaptor which routes the oil out to the cooler and returns it. I have an old Lockhart that I used on my old 1978 GS 750, and it is now on my 1979 GS 1000. Search on oil-cooler adapter...

    LED mirror turn signals?

I've got mirrors mounted on the Rifle Superbike fairing on my 1979 GS 1000, and my original front turn signals are really ugly and pitted, though completely functional. I'd like to put LED mirror turn signals on, but I'm concerned about them being bright enough for daytime use. I looked at some...

If you're interested, make me an offer...

    50 watt LED headlight

H4 LED replacement H4 LED replacement I'd like to find an LED replacement for an H4 bulb with a similar lumen output to a 55/60 W halogen bulb, from what I have read, 1200 lumen. So far, all the replacements seem to be much lower in output.

    Quieter

I REALLY dislike loud pipes! I REALLY dislike loud pipes! My 1979 GS 1000 has what are purported to be a Two Brothers 4-into-1 system. When I first got it running, it was ungodly loud. I pulled the can apart, and there was NO packing in it. I packed it with stainless steel wool. Still too...

    Renobruce oil temp setup

Hey, Agemax, do you think putting the temp sender on a T with the pressure gauge in the galley on the right side of the engine would be accurate enough? Or maybe mounting it in the oil filter cover; there is a drain plug at the bottom of the filter cover plate, that maybe could be modified to...

    Renobruce oil temp setup

I have one of Bruce's oil pressure gauge installed in the port on the right side of the engine, and I wondered if that point might not show the oil temp as accurately as one where the sender was in the sump. I had thought about using a T on that port.

    Renobruce oil temp setup

Chef, I'm being dense... Chef, I'm being dense... ... but I looked at my engine pretty thoroughly yesterday, and I don't see the plugs you're talking about. Any chance you have a pic of what you mean? Sorry about not getting it; this IS on a 1979 gs 1000 2V engine?

    Renobruce oil temp setup

Has anyone installed the oil temp setup Renobruce was selling a while back? It came with a sender, a gauge, and a mounting cup for the gauge. I believe the sender needed to be installed in an oil drain plug drilled and tapped for the sender. Is that correct? Does the magnet in the plug create a...

O K, now that I got that figured

Coils DO go bad! Coils DO go bad! I just had an Accel coil that the primary opened up. Read across the primary terminals, and you should see about 3-5 ohms. If it reads open, it's bad.
