A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

You can de grease the inside of the tank, then use body work lead alloy to braze the hole closed from the outside, then file the lead smooth, then use your favorite tank sealer. The lead gives the sealer a backing.

    GS1100E shock rebuild?

Hey there, good to hear from you too. I figure if i can cut one apart I can see how they work. in theory you could cut the weld around the seal head and either weld on a thicker collar that has a inner groove for a wire clip to hold a seal head like new shocks, or maybe thread the internal body...

    Looking for fork oil advice

jump on amazon and get some maxima 10wt or 15wt. If you are a +200 guy go with the heavier oil, the heavier the oil the more rebound dampening. These old damper rod forks don't really care about oil as much as the newer cartridge style forks. Hell you could even use ATF fluid and it will be fine.

Need help identifying ignition parts on 1983 gs1100e

I don't recall, it was several years ago. I am 99% sure it was a real one as the wires, connectors and general feel of the RR was high quality expected from a US made product vs cheap chinese knock off. I know what to look for and feel pretty confident it was the real deal. I have seen posts on...

Need help identifying ignition parts on 1983 gs1100e

fyi the compufire stuff at least the one i had, doesn't like the high rpms and will burn out. Ran one on my KTM 990 that has about the same rev range as the GS and it didn't like the high rpm/voltage spikes. Ended up using a sh847 RR on it. The compufire stuff is engineered for lower reving...

Attempt to rebuild it like discussed above, or go buy a new custom shock by one of the many mfrs' out there for 1200 bucks. If it can be assembled it can be disassembled. https://youtu.be/38EnQC5uq68 looks very similar to the shock you are talking about.

1994 GSXR1100W rear shock rebuild in USA

it is likely rebuildable, go find a local dirt bike suspension shop and have them look at it. if you seen one shock you have seen them all. Those mono body shocks are easier to manufacture as rebuildable then non-rebuildable because they have way more things going on then standard cheapies.
