A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pilot screw turns: the saga continues

Someone may have pointed this out, that you can use the perforated (bleed style) pilot jets in the non-bleed pilot carbs, BUT they require a different size as the hole in the bottom of the jets are sized differently. You can search around the internet and figure out what size you need... Or...

    Smallest 530 chain front sprocket?

It's also easier to install and less chance of my chain becoming too short to adjust for. I figured for less than $20 it'd be fun to try and see how the old girl responds. It's not like I do many top speed runs anyway (but I did show an indicated 125mph last weekend-lol. But I suspect the...

    Smallest 530 chain front sprocket?

I've got the 530 chain conversion kit on my bike with a 17 tooth front sprocket but I'd like to try a 16 tooth sprocket to get a little better acceleration. I hear if the front sprocket is too small in diameter the chain can rub on the swingarm. So what's the smallest that can be used and will...

GS550E full throttle stutter at 8000rpm

Around here (in the US) gas has been reformulated for the past several years and it doesn't color the plugs like it used to. Tan used to be spot on, but now they will look nearly white when they are correct.

    1150 transmission question...

The new gears came in Wed and they have flat 90 degree shoulders. I'll bring them by and we can figure out how to press the old ones off and get the new ones on.

    1150 transmission question...

Instead of reading through the pages of responses to this (lol), we decided to replace the gear to be on the safe side. We didn't want to have to pull it all apart again.

    Cylinder stud o-rings? Gs1150

Thank you, I didn't check all the sub-models (I mean why would they only show up on some models?). You've helped me out allot! Note: I clicked on the item an it lists the dimensions 2.4mm x 11mm I'd.)

1982 GS1100GK - not accelerating smoothly when engine is hot

Those plugs look a little lean, but that doesn't mean much in diagnosing if it's a mixture problem unless you drove a little ways with the engine acting up. Then noted your throttle position while it was happening. Then, while it was acting up you immediately pulled in the clutch and turned...

    Starter Interchange

Thanks guys. It's still a month or two away from being ready, but I'd have been a little p'd off on the day I got it installed in the bike and find out my old starter didn't work. Lol.

    Clutch switch issues

I was having the opposite problem. I'd have the squeeze the clutch a few times before it would start. I was going to clean it but instead I removed it and connected the leads inside the headlight. I haven't regretted it yet but out of years of riding ATVs and bikes it's habit for me to pull...

    Starter Interchange

I'm working on a GS1150 engine, and it needs a starter. When I look at the part numbers it looks like the 1150 and 1100 starters may be different. Can they be interchanged?

    Cylinder stud o-rings? Gs1150

Me and another member here (Gregory) are rebuilding an GS1150. We're gathering parts together so you'll probably here more questions from us in the future. Lol. This question is about some o-rings that were in the case around the cylinder studs. They measure about 15.6mm OD, and I can't find...

    why no self canceling signals?

Heck if think 90 seconds would be fine. It beats the heck outta me riding for 15 minutes before I realize it's still on. Lol

    Is a 1988 gsx1100 engine a direct drop in for 1100e frame?

It looks like it's some minor wiring (you'll need an electric tach), an oil cooler, and some custom motor mounts. Otherwise it seems pretty straight forward

No turn signal or gear indicator

Headlights, brake lights, and tail lights all work fine. Just seems to be turn signals, gear indicator, and possibly some gauge indicator lights (since I took the bulbs out of most of them because they were too distracting, I don't know if any of them were affected other than the sidestand)...

No turn signal or gear indicator

Sooo, another GSR member and I went on a little ride yesterday and my turn signals quit working (both sides). My hi/low headlight functions (same switch). I checked and swapped the fuse but nothing. Then I noticed my gear indicator wasn't working. I think my side stand switch may not be...

    JC Penny Swinger 2

My dad worked for a JCP service center in the mid - late 1970s and he and some of his coworkers bought some and "hot rodded" them. I'm sure they were made by Puch. They found by going through the parts books that the specs on the gearing and motors varied from State to state, and they mixed and...

    4.5-17 rear tires for 850g

I've been running Kendas for a few years. They work great. I will admit I don't ride in the rain often, but so far I haven't had any issues. I'd sure use them again.
