I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

You should check out the valve clearances.

    GS450 Issue fitting New Coils

Switching the plug leads won't do any harm if it runs as it should. Sounds like you may have got the lt wires mixed up from left to right coils and swapping the leads corrected it. A 180 twin shouldn't have run with the ht leads swapped over though as the spark would occur at the bottom of the...

    Cylinder three running extremely hot

Yes! The lean condition will be the cause of the overheating cylinder. You should look further into number 3 carb for the cause. Make sure the jets and passages really are clear and that the fuel mixture screw tip isn't broken off and blocking the outlet and that the float height is correct.

    piston circlip designs

Yes! MTC Pistons and a few others use Teflon buttons. Ok for race bikes that get fairly regular inspections and we use them on the drag bike but they can polish a strip on the bores on higher mileage engines and wear down to nothing allowing the pin to gouge the liner so i only use circlips for...

    piston circlip designs

Never had any type fall out that have been correctly fitted. Circlips that come adrift have usually been reused and distorted or the wrong size from the get go..

    Anyone recognize this handy work?

Pretty sure the fork brace and bar risers are aftermarket items. I've seen them before. The brake pedal looks "made" though. No idea on the name , Most tuners usually put their sig on the head as that's where most of the work goes when tuning.

    performance intake mod

Yes! That's correct but not just with CV's but any carbs. The solid caps cause pressure waves that can affect fueling/lean spots at particular rpm's depending on the engine tune and a million other factors. It's not something you would probably ever notice or cause issues on the road. The foam...

    GS1000 misfiring dropping 2 cylinders

May be a dyna pick- up failing. Classic sign is cutting out as the load increases, also look for the white contact paste seeping from behind the suspect pick-up as that is a sign of overheating. Duff coil can give the same symptoms but is easier to confirm or rule out. Just switch the LT and HT...

    DNA pod filter

Stick with the proven brands. K&N, S&B, UniFilter, Piper, Ram Air, APE etc. The UniFilter/Ramair foam type are actually better for all out performance as they don't have a solid end cap which can set up adverse pressure waves that affect the fueling at certain rpms. Not that you would notice on...

    GS1000 Mikuni VM26

DO NOT replace any original brass internals unless they are physically damaged. The only internals that may need replacing are float valves, 'O'rings, Gaskets ,choke plunger seats and possible the fuel mix screws if the tips are badly worn or broken. Only use genuine Mikuni or Keyster parts if...

    Very Odd Suspected Ignition Issue

Really should have come up with that suggestion myself since i specialise in choke plunger repair . The rubber seats in the end of the plungers should also be inspected as even if they are fully closing they are likely to be worn and leaking. Not all the plungers degrade at the same...

    Very Odd Suspected Ignition Issue

Cyls 1-4 and 2-3 are paired by the same coils so if you had a single faulty coil or associated wiring the weak sparks would either be on 1-4 or 2-3 as pairs and not 1-3, 1-2 ,2-4 or 4-3 . Apparent weak spark symptoms on 1-2 indicates a non ignition related problem which is causing plug fouling...

    Cylinder 1&4 misfire 1980 gs750l

Unless you have very low or no compression the problem can be spark related or manifold air leak. Spraying easy start around the 1 - 4 carb boots would get a result if there's major leaks there but It would be a big coincidence having air leaks or no compression on the two cylinders that are...

Small rubber washers for petrol tap

Would have measured them for you ( i have a couple of accurate yard sticks in the shed for that sort thing ;) ) but the last set i had is now sitting comfortably in a rebuilt set of carbs which are enjoying life on a running bike. Looks like Brian has got you sorted now though ?

Small rubber washers for petrol tap

Make sure any you buy are VITON/FKM rubber and nothing else. The Ethanol we now have in our fuel will destroy anything else in no time.. There's a couple of UK sellers on Ebay that i buy Viton 'O ring kits from for the VM carbs and the ones for the mixture screws etc may be the size you need so...

GS450 Runs rich at low throttle

Even if the chokes are sitting properly the rubber seals in the end of the plunger degrade with age and ethanol fuels and will leak redardless and cause your issues. With the age of these n bike it is becoming a widly known issue. If you can''t source OEM replacements your original plungers can...

    Tires vs rim sizes.....

Running a tyre wider than specified results in sidewall flex and poorer handling especially on road tyres. However running a lower aspect ratio ( lower sidewall) would go someway to reducing that effect. Knobbly tyres usually have a more substantial carcass anyway so going from 120-90 to 150-70...

    Cleaning foam air filter?

The whole point of foam filters is that they are washable so you don't keep having to buy replacements .
