A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Small rubber washers for petrol tap

ukjules

Forum Sage
Does anyone know where you can get the small
washers for a typical 80's petrol tap ?

Specifically I need the ones on the
prime screw bolt. as per picture.

The larger one I think is a dia 3 ? 1mm.
That's what I have and put in to test.
The lower one must be dia 2 (or less) ? 1.

Reason: I think it is these washers that are causing tap to free flow. It's worth a try to see.

Only ask if someone says ' yep you need these ..... from ...."
otherwise I'll get a pack with some dia 2 ? 1 from ebay and hope that fits the smallest.

Many thanks. Added to favs.
Shame they don't put the sizes but they look correct. I'll ask.

Update.
asked him and he said he had no idea the diameter of them. I replied does he possess a ruler and have had no response .
UPDATE On UODATE:
EBAY CHAP RESPONDED AND NIW VERY HELPFUL.
MEASUREMENT NOT NEEDED NOW
(((I don't suppose if you find yourself bored, in the garage with a ruler near said washers you could measure ......)))

You will need to measure O rings with a digital vernier gauge, especially with O rings of that size.
Attempting to measure them with a ruler will give you absolutely no accuracy of the ID and width of the O rings.
Same goes with the dimensions of the screw you want the O rings to fit. You cannot possibly measure it accurately enough with a ruler.

oh please..... of course I know that !!! as does
the guy I asked. Was gonna say English humour but you are in uk.

Would have measured them for you ( i have a couple of accurate yard sticks in the shed for that sort thing ;) ) but the last set i had is now sitting comfortably in a rebuilt set of carbs which are enjoying life on a running bike.
Looks like Brian has got you sorted now though ?

Well he seems to have 2.5mm OD ? 1.2mm as smallest. This might work for the smallest.
I will consider if I an afford such an expense after the masses of issues I have on all 3 of my working bikes now.
