I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Aluminum case mottling

What Deheme said is good. Only thing I would add is that each time you go to a finer grit, sand 90 degrees to the previuos grit untill you remove all the scratches left behind by the last step in grit. After I get up to 1500, I buff with white compound and reseal with high temp clear...

difference between stock 16v 1100 and 750 cams

    The 16 valve GS750 cams = .256 intake, .256 exhaust. The GS1100 (1980-1982) = .276 intake, .256 exhaust. The GS1100 (1983) = .296 intake, .276 exhaust. The duration is 268 for the early 1100 and 280 for the 1983 1100. Not sure on the duration for the GS750 16...

    Intake porting?

Ed, the 16 valve engines are not as hard on the guides as the 8 valve motors. The valves are much smaller and lighter. Also if you study the 16 valve ports, you will see that the guides are tapered at the port roof end. When flushing the guide, you are removing mostly this tapered part. I...

    Intake porting?

Ray is correct about the guides. On my flow bench, flushing the guides with the port roof is 4 cfm. I do that even on my street bikes. Plenty of guide left for valve stem support, so it doesn't effect the longevity of the seats. To remove the 'edge-corner' left behind by the factory...

how do you maintain black painted engines?

I have tried the S100 and it helped ...some. THE BEST thing I have used to bring back the shiny satin look of the factory black engine paint is silcone spray for rubber. Don't do this until the re-painting is finished. It absolutely brings back the new black finish. Terry

    Buy the right damn tool!

I took a 12" piece of rebar which is very hard and bent it in a vice at a slight angle to reach into the top of the lower race. It too was out in 5 sec. The top one is a piece of cake. JMHO. Terry

    stainless hardware

I prefer to use SS studs for the exhaust is because SS will not rust or corrode. Will always look good. I use studs for the exhaust because I have pulled more threads than I care to remember. And yes...I use an inch lb, wrench. The PO's did not. OK ??

Need source for stainles steel (SS), studs for exhaust. Anyone know where I can get 8 MM X 1.25 X 60 mm SS studs ? None of the SS bolt suppliers can get them for me. The longest they can supply is 50 mm. Zinc is somewhat rust resistant but at grade 5 isn't hard enough. grade 8 (black)...

    repair for broken float post

Anyone have a good repair for a broken float post ? I have heard of JB weld and drilling and threading also using a roll pin. Pot metal..didn't take much to break that thing off..!!!! Mine is broken right thru the center of the pin hole, right at the top. Not enough left to drill but it...

    GS750 CV carb body

Thanks guys for your replys. Steve it looks like #1 and #3 is the same and #2 and #4 is the same casting. Carb #1 has the fuel tube sealed off with a 'cap'. Looks like that could be removed which would allow it to be used in the #3 position. Anyone ever do this ?
