difference between stock 16v 1100 and 750 cams

How much of a difference between stock 16v 1100 and 750 cams?
The manual I looked at showed the 1100 cams had more duration, maybe more lift?

Don't know about the 750 cams, but the '83 1100E cams are slightly 'hotter' than the earlier years, so probably best for you performance-wise, if you have a choice.....better yet would be 1150 cams, which I think are also drop-in (better let one of the gurus confirm this!) for the 750, but those lack the tach drive gears. Pos had once posted a nice chart, showing actual numbers for the various years, if you can find it with a search.

The 16 valve GS750 cams = .256 intake, .256 exhaust.
The GS1100 (1980-1982) = .276 intake, .256 exhaust.
The GS1100 (1983) = .296 intake, .276 exhaust.

The duration is 268 for the early 1100 and 280 for the 1983 1100. Not sure on the duration for the GS750 16 valve engine. the 1100 cams are drop in for the 16 valve 750 engine. I installed GS1100 cams (1980-1982) in my sons 1981 GS750E and it runs VERY good, pulls HARD with ported head. Sounds camed too has the rumpity rumpity idle,..reminds me of how my 1150 sounds. The 1150 exhaust cam doesn't have the tach drive for the tach,..they are electronic.

Thanks for the info. Ya, I would go for 1150 cams but I want to keep my tach drive.
What centerline did you set the 1100 cams at?

I got a set of 1100 cams and, not knowing what year they were, I checked the lobe lift with my dial indicator. It shows .183 lobe lift or x1.5 for ~.276 valve lift on both intake and exhaust so are they '83 cams? And, instead of 268 degree they should be 280 degree?
A decent upgrade I am thinking

The manual says that the ED cams are 7/7mm In/Ex
which is 0.276 as you measured.

The numbers above were derived from the Suzuki manuals.

I'd say you have ED cams.
