All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Man, that is such good information. Thank you zed. Can you, or someone else, suggest a cam degree kit? This question may be worth a post of it's own. Sorry gs11ezrydr, I don't mean to hijack your thread :p

    Cam Degreeing or not

I'll preface my comment with, the more I learn about degreeing cams and how important/helpful it can be, the more I'm inclined to just say yes, degree your cams. That said, it may be worth it for you to call Web Cam and ask them directly. I recently purchased a used set of Web Cam brand Street...

Valve spring removal tool, 1982 GS1100E?

I have a two valve per cylinder head so I'm not sure this is worth your time, but I use a giant C clamp, PVC pipe, and a magnetic wand. Maybe this sort of set up wouldn't work on the four valve bikes, I don't know. And, this set up is also a little awkward.

What is the technical name for the triple tree part?

Ah, so that's what ya'll are talkin bout when you say yokes. I'd been wondering :D
  13. RustyTank

What is the technical name for the triple tree part?

Two questions: 1. Do you have a manual for your bike? 2. In order to better communicate to the group I suggest taking a photo of the part and posting it so we can see what your referring to.

    I had a crash...a big one!

Well sh!t man, I'm sorry to hear that. I've been following your progress, quietly rooting for you from the sidelines. I suppose, as you said, at least things are moving in a forward trajectory. Any idea if COVID will delay a surgery like that?

How fast is is your old GS?

I've read a stock GS850 engine tops out at around 120mph. So yeah, fast enough for who it's for.

    Heatwrapping headers

Great thread, I'm learning lots. GS1150Pilot, Baatfam, is the ceramic coating primarily done for protecting the exhaust from corrosion over time? Additionally, is ceramic coating something one can do one their own or must one take it to a shop?
