A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Fired up dormant '83 GS1100E #2, getting close

This one has been patiently awaiting the blue bodywork, which is ready to go on. I have run it before, last time with some Sta-bil in the aux tank and shut fuel off, ran it till it quit. Taking temps on the exhaust pipes, #1 and #2 were a bit cold, and it struggled to rev. I remembered that the...

Scored a free 'kegerator' - any brewers here?

Bought these in Australia in about '06. Time for the bin. Drinks a cold one... Actually, now that I think about it (in Best George Carlin's 10 Commandment skit voice), if it were fermenting in the can, 3.3 lbs of sugar woud have blown years ago. Hmm, maybe just heat. Fished it out of the bin...

Saw this on a Britbike forum, funny

Scored a free 'kegerator' - any brewers here?

Yes, I used Cooper's almost exclusively when in Oz. The price of brewing there was cheaper than the bottle shop - I remember 1/4 being my ballpark figure. What I found interesting was that the beer prices at pubs and sporting events weren't marked up three times, as they are in the US. It was...

Scored a free 'kegerator' - any brewers here?

The glass carboy still has the label on it from the early 90s. A bit 'on the nose' these days haha.

Scored a free 'kegerator' - any brewers here?

Among my many bad habits, I'm a beer lover. This setup was free, he had built it for soda for his kids - what was he thinking? Good quality parts, all there, 4 tall soda kegs (perfect), C02 and regulator, distributor, taps all nice, fridge works. Thermostat too. I'll have it looking much less...

82 Kat looks tired but price dropping, now $3,3300 SoCal (not mine)

Price has been dropping steadily. I just don't have room now. But if it goes even lower I may be tempted. I had an '82, it was a super nice bike when I finished it. What a torture rack, even with nice rebuilt Fox shocks replacing the stock ones, which I remember were panned by the press. The...

    Decoding part number

Could be a PN change perhaps, or a typo. Anway the 13 of them on eBay match your # and look right. I actually used the Partzilla number in the search and they appeared, maybe a 'close enough' search logic going on.

82 Kat looks tired but price dropping, now $3,3300 SoCal (not mine)

This caught my eye. Tempted, looks sun-worn and has back fees so it's more like $4,100 now. I can't swing that but maybe it keeps dropping, who knows. The 82 1000 is the one to have IMO. Seller seems legit, posting good details...

    Decoding part number

The number on Partzilla (#3) is dyslexically different, 59668-33620 vs 686. Looking that up on eBay I see it's available for $8 here (and many others for around $10): https://ebay.us/m/NJHuGM Maybe snag it?

    Ebay returns

All you need at the PO is the return QR; it carries all the needed info. The original label was for delivery, so I don't think it would add anything. It should be fine with just that QR.
  12. oldGSfan

    Ebay returns

They scan the QR and print a label. That magic square carries all the info. Hopefully, this is what you're asking - you got that QR code from the seller with confirmation that the return's accepted, right?

    Ebay returns

Yeah Chuck, show the pic on your phone and they will scan it. You can go to your regular Pony Express Office ;)

Riding & the effect on the mind.

Can be a downside with extra CO2 intake (full face). Maybe that adds to the euphoria tho - upside!

    seat step?

Some vinyl is quite stretchy; I have a seat on my Norton that way, but it's quite thin. I don't think the original GS vinyl is stretchy enough; I think the type of vinyl that I got for the Norton may be a newer development. Here's an extreme stepped seat on a GS. Couldn't help myself.

    New Vietnamese seat with pictures

I was impressed with mine that I got for my '73, the pan was perfect, fit right on with original hardware. It was firm but not uncomfortably so. For $200 I was pleased with it. Yamiya stuff is the best but $$$.

    New Vietnamese seat with pictures

I got a seat for my '73 CB750 from Vietnam, very firm, but I don't mind that. The pan was perfect, as was the vinyl and foam. For my GSs, I have gone with Pit Replica, and they are solid. How can $60 get you a better seat cover than stock? Well, prices will go up soon, I'm sure. This is a...

Stock paint has crooked emblem, clear coating over it, what to do?

Well, after my Norton tangent, I had to wait for good weather and also correct the base coat here and there, and fix one tank dent (2nd tank) that I missed. I'm still not 100% there on the 2nd, but I got the first set clear-coated with the decals on, plus one extra front fender. The other stuff...

    '82 550 Katana for $800 in SoCal

Didn't realize the tank held 6 gallons but yeah, the styling of this one always looked a bit porky. Still for a few C notes (offer 5?) it's sorta cool. Looks sorta filthy tho. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/d/orange-suzuki-katana/7882817760.html

Is there such a thing as a cheap Beemer?

Funny, I talked to a guy yesterday who came to my place to buy a coffee table. Saw my Norton and GS's and chatted about bikes and stuff. He was about my age and knew friends from the 80s in Costa Mesa, CA. He mentioned Reg Pridmore, said his friend's dad owned a shop in Santa Barbara was...
