A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

1979 Suzuki GS850- Valve cover reinstall.

”I suggest a small 1/4" ratchet wrench, and skip the torque wrench. Way too many threads get stripped from guys trying to hit a number on a torque wrench.“ I put off buying one 15 years ago…figured I wouldn’t use it much. But at this price I just bought one off bezos…note the name! beats...

1979 Suzuki GS850- Valve cover reinstall.

So are you anticipating removing it ,or is it already off? valve clearances check? get a genuine Suzuki gasket….knockoffs can be iffy. you’ll spend more time carefully removing old stuck on gasket then installing new one. Goop not needed on cover gasket, just light spray . Maybe some goop on...

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

Ok, you got fuel in bowls, spark at plugs. Activate “choke” ….make sure plungers fully extend. Use no throttle and crank….any life yet? No ? Then remove air filter element, place hand over opening to airbox to block…crank again..still nothing? remove a couple of spark plugs and look for fuel...

    Ignition Coils

With plug caps removed, over the secondary will yield about 13kohm….plug wire to plug wire. With installed caps of 10kohm each, cap to cap will yield cap to cap 33kohm. If you use the more common 5kohm plug cap, you’ll get about 23kohm cap to cap.

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

I sold a 650 ignitor to a Florida guy who knew his failed charging smoked his original unit….I gave him a SH-232 r/r to accompany it . This was before I was schooled in the series r/r stuff

Experiences with aftermarket/non oem airbox rubbers?

I haven’t needed them yet…..but others on here might like to know the company that supplied these items. The” made in Japan” sounds good to me!

    GS1000S cam chain tensioner

“as I get the occasional chatter, sometimes when cold but rarely once warmed up“ sure it’s not an exhaust part misbehaving? put your hand on tensioner body and see if you feel any chattering.

    Gear Indicator Wires - 82 Suzuki GS650GZ

installing a volt meter on gs1100e

That’s how I tested the sh-775 compared to shunt r/r on my bike back in 2013……cheesy, but the difference was enlightening! Still working perfectly…including on the previously tortured stator.

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

If you got the UNI-2440 filter element, you should be able to create a metal cage out of hardware cloth …the d-shaped ends aren’t critical…..they just need to support the element from collapsing and being swallowed. A little trial and error should be adequate to get cage right lengthwise...

Back again. 82 GS1100 drive issues

Strange… “pull over, kill bike, pop gas cap, bike doesn’t have enough power to start no choke, sounds like nearly dead battery!! Choke on start right away completely normal idle in nuetral take off and symptoms remain, but able to limp home.“ sounds like main jets could be clogged somehow….so...

installing a volt meter on gs1100e

The battery reading would tell you if stator output was weakening (or erratic) while you ride. The stator produces a/c current which the r/r and battery combo convert and clamp at 14 volts dc . If the stator weakens it will show up at battery quickly as running bike consumes juice. Tape a multi...

    82 GS650G - Signal Generator

The two wires form the circuit to trigger the ignitor….far as I can tell, the ignitor sends a weak current to the signal generator setup ….this current gets magnetically disrupted when the metal tab on advancer spins by the signal coils creating a pulse to theignitor.

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

Folks here are just trying to be helpful….offering suggestions based on their own experience. I'm curious to find out why your clean carbs with stock airbox/filter setup is falling on its face at 4K revs.

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

I forgot to mention about checking the mechanical advancer to ensure it moves freely

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

I doubt the 2mm would mean much to cause a wall at 4K rpm, but I’m unsure. I’d guess you’re running out of mixture delivery. Did you check the mechanical sync of the 4 carbs to ensure they are cooperating ?
