A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS1000 cockpit - blue faceplates ?

There was a guy on here years ago who made faceplates for the clocks, loads of different models if i remember. Cant remember if he did blue ones but i had a set of white ones made for my 78 1000. They were proper face plates as well, not just decal overlays.

Not sure if this wiring diagram is for your exact bike but it says GS1100. There is clearly a lamp next to the gear indicator which says "gear position indicator light", so i am guessing the answer is yes, it should be back lit...

    Race tech emulator issues

That is what racetech recommend. I have put 10w in mine and they do feel a bit soft. I will play around with the emulator to see if i can improve things but i may try 15w if things dont get better

    Race tech emulator issues

ok, so here is the situation. Yes the forks do have antidive and they have been blocked off, properly so the oil can still flow through the holes. They are 310mm floating discs with Brembo P4 calipers. So i took out the Sonic springs and the Race tech emulators and dropped the original springs...

    Race tech emulator issues

Thanks for the replies. I initially had 10w oil in the forks but i thought that could be the issue, too soft, as Race Tech did actually recommend 20w oil. So i changed it to 20w oil to see if it helped and it remains the same. It is quite a definitive knock/clunk, not to loud but loud enough to...

    Race tech emulator issues

Fitted some Race tech emulators to my GS1000 (GSX1100SD Katana forks) along with some 1.0kg springs, 20w oil. The emulators were fitted exactly as the instructions stated. Problem i got now is a slight knocking from forks when i brake. It did not do this before. Has anyone had this issue with...

Removing the cylinder head: Should I leave the oil in, or drain it?

All that can be done with the engine intact. If you cant get good access to remove the broken bolt, take the engine out. That costs nothing and gives you much greater ease of access. Get the shims done and sort the carbs out.

Removing the cylinder head: Should I leave the oil in, or drain it?

The more you take apart, the more money its going to cost to put it back together again, so why not just leave it and do just the bare essentials to get it running. No more, no less.
