DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Another oil consumption threaad

It ran ok but when I pulled it apart I noticed that the gasket was damaged. Water had gotten in through a head stud and it rusted the gasket. The metal gasket rusted and it leaked out past. My 1000 probably lived outside for a while, the left side showed signs of water sitting in places.

Stiff clutch lever - has anyone used or made an ez-pull clutch lever on a gs ?

I installed a new cable on my 650 and the clutch lever got easy. Same on the 1000. I've got EBC Springs that are about 10% stronger than stock. I'm using Barnett Kevlar clutches.

    1980 GS1000 idle issue

Jetting? First check the slides don't hang up. This can be caused by varnish on the sides. Is the choke coming off and are there leaks around the plungers? Before rejecting make sure it's not something simple. Could even be the mechanical advance, is the timing correct and does it go to the F at...

    Inconsistent Miss on 80 GS750L

If the plugs are rusty and old it might be time for a new set. How about the lead wires from the coils? I put new ones on and it no longer stumbles in the rain.

Gs 1100 v&h exhaust carb question

I have a stock 1000G with the V and H and I ended up leaning it out one size to make it work for me. YMMV and at the end of the day you'll need to test it, not just throw jets in and call it done.

    My GS1000G jetting experience

I picked up a 1000G a few years ago with a 4-1 of some vintage but basically stock. I rebuilt the bike over a winter and bought a VH pipe for it, 12500 model street pipe. So now comes the fun part. Jetting. The bike came to me with 42.5 pilots instead of 40 and 117.5 mains. I left the pilots...

idle/pilot guidance please(hanging idle, black out tailpipes)

This is one of those situations when I wish I lived nearby and could just go over and fix it. Trust us, it's a problem in that area and once you find it you'll say ah ha. See the black arrows? makse sure it's clear from the main jet well to the pilot well. fuel goes in there, mixes with air...
