I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Outer crank seal replacement w/o splitting the cases. Seeking advice

Great idea Chuck. Thanks for the additional details. I also like Chef's idea of freezing the seal before installing it. I think I'll use a can of Dust-off turned upside down to freeze the seal before I try pulling it out. Can someone post a better procedure than mine for pulling the seal?

Outer crank seal replacement w/o splitting the cases. Seeking advice

Thanks guys. Any advice on a better way to pull the seal than the one I described? Willie

Outer crank seal replacement w/o splitting the cases. Seeking advice

The outermost crank seal on the right side (under the ignition plate of my '83 1100) is leaking. Is it feasible to pull the seal without splitting the cases? Has anyone else has done this? If so, what lessons were learned as to the easiest way to pull the seal? FWIW, I'm thinking of drilling a...

VERY well stated. Simple, to the point and absolutely true. A feeling, I think, shared by the majority of us. Welcome aboard and good luck with your new mount! Willie

    Seafoam

I'm a very satisfied user of SeaFoam. I've seen it works wonders and prefer it over Stabil as a stabilizer. FWIW, I add a little to my tank several times per season. Willie

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

By any chance has anyone found any other calipers, other than those listed elsewhere, that would work? I'm planning on doing this upgrade on my '83 1100 but would like to make sure there isn't a better caliper out there that will fit before I buy anything. Thanks, Willie

Silicone valve cover gasket experience on a 16 valve 1100 needed

Thanks guys. I pulled the cover off today to check valve clearances and find the cause of a couple of slight leaks. I measured the non contact areas of the OEM and silicone gaskets to determine the difference in thickness. I was surprised to see only .017" in difference. Evidently, it doesn't...

Silicone valve cover gasket experience on a 16 valve 1100 needed

I've used one of the Real Gasket silicone or neoprene rubber cam cover gaskets on my 1100G and really liked it. I'd like to know if anyone has had any complaints with using the same type gasket on their 16 valve engine. I understand they don't seal as well on the 16 valve engines as they do on...

    My Stockish Paint Job

Very nice! I think painting the case savers satin black was a great idea. The only thing needed, while I'm being critical, is to replace the front brake lines and get the full benefit of the twin pot calipers. ;)

Anyone try a 6 pot brake conversion?

I did the twin pot conversion on my last 1100G and was happy with the results. I was just looking for something better, if possible, this time around. I am/will be using floating CBR rotors. Thanks for your concern.

Interesting. Any one else want to add their opinion or findings? Thanks a lot.

Anyone try a 6 pot brake conversion?

I'm looking into the feasibility of updating the brakes on my '83 1100E using 6 pot calipers. I haven't bought anything, yet. I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this. If so, please post the lessons you learned or PM me so I can get some advice. Thanks, Willie

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Took advantage of the unseasonably mild temps yesterday and went for a nice ride around the Kingsport, TN area. Here's a picture I took at the Fort Patrick Henry dam overlook.

Any GS1100G owners out there with fork braces?

Thanks Joe. Your picture clearly shows how little space is available above the fender. Also, FWIW, I looked up the appropriate brace for the 110G on the Fast from the Past site. It lists a brace for the 1100 G/K. I believe they mean the GK model vs G and the GK model. If that's the case, they...
