If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Gs500/550 1979 with Bandit swingarm

Any modern bike swingarm like that is designed for a completely different engine style, compact transmission, swing arm further forward and closer to the engine counter shaft output sprocket. So basically it's no good for any bike that you want to have a ton of fun taking around corners, but...

    R.I.P Wes Cooley

I just came here to post the same thing. A friend sent me that link. R.I.P. Wes Cooley. Diabetes complications. I was very fortunate to have met Wes several years ago at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. Wes was SUPER nice guy, full of joy & life...very kind. He seemed to be in great health just a...

    GS450/GS500?GR650engine swap...

You can go a lot bigger on the 450 stud spacing, but I am going to finally be building up this GS400 frame (I JUST GOT IT TITLED!) with the parts that I had for my stock GS425. The roller bearing bottom end should tolerate a lot more power, and I will be punching it out to 489cc 72 mm pistons as...

    GS450/GS500?GR650engine swap...

https://youtu.be/tQEVHd1cSyw Stephen M (Manic Mechanic on here? Mechanix actually I think) said that's a 500 head and cylinder with GR650 pistons actually. I could have sworn it was the GR head. Take a close look at the exhaust, he says it is modified to clear the frame, but the only one I've...

    GS450/GS500?GR650engine swap...

You would be much better off sending the head out for bigger valves and mild porting, and getting some custom big bore pistons made. Contact Rapid Ray Rains on here, or Dynoman Performance or APE Race Parts (Big Jay of APE is occasionally on this forum, he posted some GS400 big bore head mod...

    GS450/GS500?GR650engine swap...

Look up the YouTube video "GS527 beast." The GR650 head sort of fits but the cam chain tunnel area barely seals due to almost no overlap on gasket surfaces, it's not ideal and will leak oil. The 550 cylinder is slightly too short The GR650 cylinder in no way fits whatsoever, way too tall...

    Gearbox issues - shift forks?

When I forgot to downshift at higher RPM as I was slowing down to 40 mph to turn into a gas station, I showed up at the pump in 4th gear and it took me about 4 minutes to get it back into neutral... That was pretty frustrating! At least I can slip the clutch and pump it in and out a bit to get...

    GS 1000 gaskets

I looked up a few other modrls, 750 & 850 8v bikes, & Partzilla shows those OEM head & base gaskets as unavailable as well... They do still list the egg shaped o-rings used on the oil feed passages on the base gaskets, however. Except for one of the 2 different thickness/years of GS1100G oil...

    GS 1000 gaskets

I got a few of the GS1100G (& GS1000/GS850/GS750-big-bore) MLS Athena head gaskets and they meet my satisfaction plenty vs any composite gaskets.

    GS 1000 gaskets

So we should just buy NOS or new Cometic base gaskets from now on? Cometic said they can whip out any custom configuration (big bore, different thickness vs stock, etc) paper gaskets or composite head gasket in a week. MLS head gaskets require a minimum quantity bulk purchase however.

    GS 1000 gaskets

Athena MLS head gaskets: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254941040694 Edit - you can actually get the whole 1100G gasket set for less than that shipped, the head gaskets there individually are coming from Germany, so $$ shipping.

    GS 1000 gaskets

Is there any channel we can complain to about Suzuki dropping support for these midels slowly? The GS were more mass produced than the PE pure enduro series, but are still getting simple parts like paper gaskets phased out... Darn Covid!!!! I guess this means we're all getting old as well!

    GS 1000 gaskets

Suzuki REALLY %^$*@%^$ed me off early this year by completely discontinuing listings for the Suzuki PE 2-stroke enduros and selling off their entire stock of plastic bodywork and other NOS warehoused parts to a private club in the UK... Really ridiculous considering so many of the parts were...

    GS 1000 gaskets

Partzilla still shows the superseded MLS head gaskets available for 850/1000/1100G models. This is what I run for all my bigger GS 8v engines (big bore 750 & 1000). Quite spendy though at $123 + shipping... The base gasket IS showing as no longer available, what the heck Suzuki?!?! At least...

'77 gs750 wire wheel single front caliper upgrade

Blackbird or CBR900RR 310mm rotors in 23mm offset or 17mm offset + spacer & one of Salty's brackets will get you a great single disc upgrade. Run EBC "HH" fully sintered (metallic) pads, skip the semi sintered & organic. Fully sintered will wear on the rotor faster, but stop exceptionally fast...

Radial tires on vintage bikes - Continental etc

On my Rickman CR1000 build with a GS1000-1100cc engine, I've always planned on running Bridgestone Battlax BT-016 Pro radials which are a higher performance version of these Conti RoadAttack3 radials basically, even down to the peakey profile to give quick turn-ins + more contact patch leaned...

Radial tires on vintage bikes - Continental etc

I'm a stickler for proper rim widths vs tire sizes... As mentioned above. The Continental Classic Attack radials were designed for the stock 1.85-19 & 2.15-18 / 2.50-18 rims on our GS's. I'm running the newer Continental RoadAttack3 radials on 3.50-18 & 2.50-18 D.I.D. aftermarket alloy wire...

Radial tires on vintage bikes - Continental etc

Can't comfortably scrape the pegs and stator cover on a darksider!!! And you can't get ultra sticky high performance rubber compounds in skinny 18" darksiders!

Radial tires on vintage bikes - Continental etc

Overall, I was HIGHLY impressed with these Conti RoadAttack3 radials... I would buy them again if they last 7500+ miles on the rear vs my ultra sticky Shinko rubber which lasts me 4000 rear 8000 front under pretty extreme and aggressive riding conditions on a modified bike. The Shinko beats the...

Radial tires on vintage bikes - Continental etc

I'd seen several years ago that Continental had developed the Classic Attack radial tires specifically in GS/KZ/CB etc skinny 18" & 19" sizes... I've been very happily running fast wearing ultra-gripping Shinko 18" bias ply / cross ply tires for years on my friends' stock GS rims AND my...
