DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Exhaust Mod

Cool, never heard of those before. Looking at this ebay listing, it doesn't look like a slip on muffler will be an easy option since the collector is a part of the muffler: https://www.ebay.de/p/MOTAD-2-1-Auspuff-Exhaust-Suzuki-GSX-400-E-S-L-Custom-GS-450-E-NEW/1337410388

    Exhaust Mod

Yeah the route to a two into one is a whole new exhaust system, not a modification of the existing one. If you meant some kind of collector from the stock header pipes, you could fabricate that yourself using the stock headers if you have the welding abilities. It's generally considered...

    Exhaust Mod

Yup - here's mine mocked up from a few months back. It's an old supertrapp 2 into 1. I have a slip on muffler that I'll be sticking on the end. The easiest way to do it is with a MAC exhaust for the GS450. Like this one: https://www.ebay.com/i/161216281796?chn=ps

    GS450 Rebuild

Bike is torn down again and I've painted the frame using VHC roll bar paint. Here's the roller with my 13" Hagons for a mock up: Next up is the GS500 cylinder swap. I made another thread about it here...

    GS450L Custom

Finding where to hide all that stuff is part of the fun! On my GS450, I relocated a lot of it to a tray under the seat. On my (pretty much stock) GS750, I've found little nooks and cranny's to relocate things like the signal flasher and install a new R/R. If you're drastically changing the...

what did you wrench on today??

Justin that things sick! Once my GS450's done I'll bring it up! What is the exhaust from or did you make it?

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

We just pulled off of I-84 since there was a little tent indicating a campground on my US atlas (love this thing). It was at High Point State Park and I wish we could have had more time to ride around the area and explore. What we did see of the surrounding roads was really great. I actually...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Went on a little trip for the past week with my buddy on our '77 GS550 and GS750s. Boston -> Pittsburgh -> Philadelphia -> NYC -> friends wedding -> Boston. Put another 1,500 miles on my GS750 without a hitch but did blow out my fork seals. Left at 6pm last Thursday and rode 260 miles before...

My GS450 -> GS500 Cylinder and Piston Swap

Glad you're here, Pete. I've learned lots from following along with your threads. :) I just ordered the head and base gaskets (added part numbers to OP) but am actually riding to Pittsburgh on my GS750 for a week and half trip at the end of the week. I'm eager to dig into this as soon as I get...

    1981 GS450L longest rear shock?

I'll chime in here since I'm going through this on my GS450. Mostly, I have a picture! I have a 1981 GS450L frame. It has the stock 19" wheel and I have a 18" wheel from a GS450E on the back. I don't know what the difference between the L and E frames are, but I believe the E has a 18" stock...

    2-valve 750 dyno?

I've done it on my GS750. Any performance gain was secondary to me wanting something more reliable to the original points. To be honest, any performance gain I may have noticed would have been due to my inability to precisely adjust the old points...

Chasing a noise - What I have found so far -

I listened to both of your videos and didn't hear anything troublesome. When I took my GS750 cross country I learned to stop listening for barely perceptible engine noise changes. We were doing 100-400 miles pretty much every day and so, by my reasoning, anything that was going to be a problem...

My GS450 -> GS500 Cylinder and Piston Swap

I've been meaning to do this for a while and have my GS450 fully disassembled right now. I have a set of GS500 cylinders, pistons and cams. Not sure if I'm going to do all three yet due to the clearance of the GS500 cams with the GS500 pistons and GS450 cylinder head. We'll see. I'll be using...

    77 GS550 Dyna Installation question

nvm figured it out. If you disconnect the trigger wires coming out of the coils, they're 12v to the battery. Timing light needs to be at the connection on the coil.

    77 GS550 Dyna Installation question

Bump ... I'm hoping that it's not the dyna itself that's somehow busted but assumed that for a seemingly simple device, that they should be quite robust. Plus I'm getting the same behavior for both the 1-4 and 2-3 wire which leads me to think maybe I'm just missing something.

    77 GS550 Dyna Installation question

Went to install a Dyna DS3-1 in my friend's 1977 GS550 this week and encountered something a little unexpected. I've done this before on my 1977 GS750 and they both had the KD ignition stock. We're going to put in Dyna coils and a coil relay mod in at some point, but haven't yet. I've installed...

82 gs450l bogs down when accelerating

It's pretty typical here to refer new biker owners condescendingly to the "Newbie Mistake" thread: https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?171846-Top-10-Newbie-Mistakes&highlight=newbie You should definitely look into all of the things Steve said but, to me, it sounds like you...
