A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    Clutch will not engage

It is possible. However, the only rods I've seen broken have been because of a chain issue. Purchased a 95 Katana 750 and this was what I found. I made a replacement out of a cheap broken screwdriver as it was the perfect size. Rotate your actuator - is it extended when you do? Are all the...

    Ignitor unit and dynatek question

If you're going to run any type of aftermarket electronic ignition run the Suzuki replacement coils that are 4.3 ohm. Mine are off of the Katana series of motorcycles. I run both the Ebay electronic ignition ($60) and the 4.3 ohm coils ($60) Also - I don't run the resistor caps. Ignore the...

    GS550 Gasket Set

Copper coat or gasgacinch is an option. I use copper coat on the after-market head gaskets because I don't want to do it again... and again. What I see in Nessism's pic, it looks like the gasket shifted during assembly. I used the same brand on my 750 rebuild and didn't have any issues with the...

    Clutch will not engage

Not familar with the 250 actuator/clutch assy but it appears that this should push on the rod and against the pressure plate to disengage the clutch just like my 750 and 550 engines. This also looks similar to the actuator my Katana 750 engine. If the clutch is not engaging, you might want to...

New member : 1981 GS1000G Aftermarket exhaust advice

Delkevic makes good systems but don't trust their fitment guide. They build them for specific models and don't trial fit on others. Have you looked at the MAC systems. I believe this is what mine is - used Ebay purchase listed for a "Suzuki" - and the slip-on sit's a little lower in the rear. It...

    Still not right, FFS.

Air correctors installed in my single screw VM 26's. Very simple to install. However, you need to remove the carbs again - ugh. After installing these, I am a firm believer that if you mod an engine (any mod) with VM26 carbs, you need the air correctors as this prevents changing clip height...

    Still not right, FFS.

This is based on my experience with 2 GS engines and 40 years of tool collecting and greasy fingernails... Your mains are way to big and you NEED the "air correctors" unless you are running a stock air box. However, read below because a stock air box without a filter or a non-stock insert will...

    GS1000G barrels

Yes, stock is 70mm and your bore is 3.5mm over - or 1100cc. You can sleeve the jugs or replace. Whatever you do, expect to bore the new jugs to the same 3.5mm over-bore. I've memory serves me correctly, 1mm and 3.5mm are the only available pistons. Cruizin Image has listings on Ebay - I...

GS1000SN left handlebar switch not returning to middle position

I was under the impression that it doesn't return to center automatically. AKA - self canceling... The later models that self canceled did auto return to center but the flasher relay self canceled the turn signal based on speed - a system that didn't work very well. I do know that my 77 you...

GS450T head gasket leak... any recommended sealer

I've used copper coat with good results when using cheap gaskets. However, as mentioned, torque recheck is always needed.

    GS1000 Fuel Flow Problems

If you're using an inline filter you MUST use a gravity style filter and not a pressure style - think lawn mower. Also, if you open up your fuel vents to the atmosphere I always recommend you install 2-cycle weedeater style filters as this prevents debris from entering your float bowls/carbs...

    VM26SS issues?

I am going to throw this out there - but where are you floats adjusted at? Even 1mm to high can cause issues - my VM26's I run at 25mm but still tweaking.

No spark on number 4, looking for coils.

I use 4.3 ohm coils from the Katana era of motorcycles. I don't use caps and run stock plugs.

    1980 gs1000g

Are you running CV carbs? I'd guess something is out of sync or an air leak as already mentioned. A stuck ignition advancer could also cause a smiliar issue. Don't blame the bike. It did nothing wrong. I've had plenty of issues with my GS750 and GS1000 but was always able to solve them.

77 GS 750 - Need Help!! Smoke From PCV Breather / Running Rough When Hot

If you're running VM26's did you install the much needed air correctors ? My issues were similar as I rebuilt the top end on my 77 GS750. The smoke coming from the engine breather isn't an issue as the motor still needs to seat in. This isn't something that happens on the first ride.

    Headlight switch disconnect from stator

My issue with this swap based on my experiences after doing it. GS750 wiring harness - GS1000 engine I had charging issues - would not charge above 12.9 volts and would drop to static battery voltage the longer it idled... with lights on, it was worse. I only used x3 wires as I removed the...

Building cafe racer using Moto gadget M unit. Anyone have experience?

Yes - none of those wires have anything to do with speedo or tach. The stator - 3-wires or 5 - you only need three of them for the charging system. Neutral light Oil light I don't remember anything else hidden in there.
