A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Hello from The Netherlands

I have a 750 with GSXR stuff - avatar pic - although it's in pieces getting the frame completed. It also has the 1000 engine installed in the 750 frame. Welcome aboard!

Lesson learnt, Lesson taught VM 26's

That was an early assumption however, I don't have any full kits on hand to verify this and these carbs were rebuilt in 2019 before the engine was damaged. I was never able to dial the carbs in back then and they've not been used for anything except simple starting/testing until this year...

Lesson learnt, Lesson taught VM 26's

When you have as much experience with carbs in general like I do, one doesn't expect silly issues like this. I can rebuild a quadrajet with my eyes closed, a holley in my sleep and any and all small engine carbs without hesitation. I've even worked with/on Ford's ill advised variable venturi...

    Dynajet questions vm26

I have a 77 750 bored to an 844 ( your 850 is 843 ) and I am running the VM26's that I've jetted. You should have these carbs. Correct me if I'm wrong However: I have 4 into1 - big tube headers with an open slip on (no baffles) Modified air box - no correctors needed - and I run cheap Ebay pods...

    Electric problem, or gas/vacuum?

Do you mean it cranks but doesn't start ? Could be both - make sure your petcock is working and then check for spark. Fuses maybe? Do you have a wiring diagram/field service manual? Do you mean it starts when you push the button but dies when released? I'm from the Show Me state and this I...

    79 850 g- motor shot?

I just pulled apart a 77 GS550 that had water in Blogs cyl and it was rusted to the cylinder wall. Some PB Blaster and time, it freed up. Removed the jug and the engine is free and worth looking into rebuilding. Not sure if I can save Blogs liner and I'm not about to waste $$$ removing and...

Why you need to adjust the valves...

I too remember LPG service trucks from the 80's - replacing the heads every 20k-ish and adjusting the valves every week LOL Hydraulic lifters didn'tmake a difference when the valves are receeding that fast.

Why you need to adjust the valves...

Well, since we've seen this before - more than once - we know what's happened here and it's in the title - please check/adjust your valves. Valve recession checks either weren't completed or not checked correctly. Running NatGas has it's issues - no lubricity in the combustion chamber - wears...

Why you need to adjust the valves...

We have the worlds first 3 hydrogen generators running traditional reciprocating engines. We only run our gens on alternative fuels... NatGas, biofuels, synthetic and hydrogen. We also have solar and heat pump divisions but nothing with wind as of yet. Probably coming though. Turbine gens aren't...

Why you need to adjust the valves...

Check your valves or else... We have valve recession checks that most likely weren't performed... The intact valve is bent. We run natural gas in this unit and recession checks are very important. If your's are ticking - they're too loose. If you have a runability issue or poor performance -...

Why you need to adjust the valves...

We have service procedures for our large engines used in power generation. When you don't check things - bad stuff happens. Expensive down time: $5000 piston. Look for the valve head... $6000 connecting rod $4500 cylinder liner (jug) $5500 cylinder head - reman all the additional parts and labor.

Purchased a 1977 GS750 in July 2019. 2nd weekend - it's running fair - on the way home after a 75 round trip it rips the cam cap off #1/2 exhaust cam. Several other bike projects come and go and this finally gets a used head and other fun things...

    Niche cycle

I also order parts from all over the world and 6 week wait is common and waits even longer happen. However, we can expedite in stock items so this helps. I have learned that western europe doesn't have the same motivation america does (and our motivation isn't the good kind) LOL... It doesn't...

Lots of new stuff.!!! Any tips installing???

The banjo fittings do not need any tape - use good copper crush washers (some of them now have rubber/aluminum washers - not my favorite) The oring fittings - I've been known to use tape when I don't need it to leak - my personal preference here.

    81 gs 550m

Last time I witnessed this problem I had to work with the pilot jets. Hand drill them until this symptom went away. Took several times. You will need extra pilot jets, wire sized drill bits and patience. For some reason the GS550 and 500's had the same issue as Suzuki tried to lean them out...
