I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Fuel guage

Even if the petcock wasn't the correct one for the bike, the fuel gauge would read higher then empty when it went onto reserve. If the gauge was in error but the petcock was correct, then the fuel gauge would read empty for a much longer period of time. With out knowing the actual tank...

GS850G 1981 with runaway throttle... scary.. whats wrong with it?

How do you know the carbs are returning to the throttle stops? There is no way the engine could rev that high if the throttle plates were all closed. No leaky boot would cause it either. Do you hear the carbs slam shut when you let go of the throttle? Do you feel the spring tension at the...

Need New plug cables any suggestions?

Do you just need the caps? Here's a link that will help you: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/cbsaunders/gs/plug_cap_replacement.pdf

    Fuel guage

The fuel gauge is independent of the fuel petcock. It's nothing more than a float tied to a variable resistor. If the gauge is reading incorrectly then it's either the float assembly or the gauge itself.

    Gas filling the crankcase..

And how exactly do you know the floats are working ok? None of the jets have O-rings. The only O-ring that can cause gas to keep flowing is the one around the float seat. Unless you forgot to put them on all 4 seats it would not be dumping fuel from all the carbs. Put the carbs level on a...

    Istalling Vetter 4 fairing on 1980 GS100G

MUCH easier to just drop the front wheel and fender. Loosen the triple tree pinch bolts and drop the forks down. Use a jack or some wood to support the bike underneath the exhaust or oil pan. I just use a floor jack and piece of 2x4. Jack her up while on the center stand until the rear tire...

    Help/suggestions needed

Yes, never mess with the air jets. No need to.

    Help/suggestions needed

I would have left the pilot jets stock. Maybe up the mains and raise the needle just a tad but there was no need to increase the pilot jet size from stock.

Main Jet/Pilot Jet Recommendations For Mac 4 into 1 Exhaust on 82 GS1100 GK?

With the MAC exhaust, you may find that you need no changes at all. The stock exhaust actually flowed surprisingly well. Intake changes seem to make a bigger difference.

Wierd find when adjusting Air screws

You'd be amazed at how much of a difference a carb sync can do. Especially at the lower throttle opening positions. I can always tell when my 850 needs a look at. There's a slight buzziness I feel that completely goes away after a valve adjustment and resync.

Broken Secondary Gear - 2nd time in 2 years

Also, note that Suzuki doesn't sell the gears individually. They're sold as a complete set for a reason. Wear and damage on one gear will affect the other as well. Kind of like replacing the chain and not the gears on a non-shafty.

Broken Secondary Gear - 2nd time in 2 years

My guess is that you didn't set the backlash properly. The lash needs to be set so the gears mesh properly. Too much and they bottom out against each other. Too little and you end up breaking off the tips of the gears. You may also have some debris in there getting caught between the gears.

    Gas filling the crankcase..

If it's puking fuel after startup but not with the engine off then, at least, you've fixed the petcock problem. Now it's time to fix the float valves. Either they're set to the wrong height or you have a sticking/leaking float valve. One thing I like to do after a rebuild is to invert the...

Wierd find when adjusting Air screws

Keep in mind that you'll need that tool for as long as you own bikes. Doing the carb sync is not a one shot deal. It should be done annually if you ride at all. Purchasing a carb sync tool is pretty standard equipment for a person who works on their own bikes. Agreed... Always start with...

Wierd find when adjusting Air screws

Vacuum sync before you do the pilot fuel screw adjustments. If the sync is screwed up the fuel screws may have no effect or too much effect depending on how bad each carb is synced.

Fueling or Electrical - should I take the red or the blue pill?

I'm betting points or condenser but doing a plug chop will verify if it's fuel or not. Run it in the range that's giving your problems and then do a complete shutdown and coast. Anotherwords, hold it in that range for a few seconds and then hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch. When you...

Did something i swore years ago, that i would never do.....

Was contemplating picking up a GL1500 but decided to go with a little sportier version Honda touring bike, the ST1100.: The best way to describe it is a sports car on two wheels right down to the V-4 engine. Even the air filter, oil filter, and thermostat are honda car items. The picture...

Do I need to replace my base gasket?

My 850 fires up cold on full choke and goes right 4000 rpm. I can turn the choke down to 2000 rpm immediately after it starts up. Within 30 seconds to a minute, I can turn off the choke and ride off. How well your bike warms up and rides off is very dependent on how well your carbs are set up...

First motorcycle. First post. I need help with my 1983 gs 550l.

There are two hose clamps (one on each carburetor) that need to be loosened. Once that's done the carbs will separate from the boots. Sometimes it takes a little effort to get them broken loose but they will come out if the clamps are completely loosened.
