A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    What should I get next?

Just got back from a dual-sport / street bike trip to Gilbert WV riding the Hatfield McCoy trail system and some of the fine twisty roads around that area. Definitely motorcycle heaven! So I vote for a bike (or maybe two). Something light and powerful to straighten out all those curvy roads :)...

    How to remove master link?

Gonna be a PITA without the proper tools, but sounds like you have them since you tightened the current link on there. Just grind the heads off the master link's rivets and press them out. If you're careful you'll only destroy the plate on the master link which you're going to replace anyway...

who has used throw-over soft bags?

Yeah, if you throw them over the seat you eliminate the issues of shock rubbing and muffler clearance. The sides of the seat and bodywork along with the straps do a pretty good of keeping the bags in the right place and out of danger. I wouldn't mount mine under the seat unless I had some kind...

who has used throw-over soft bags?

Yup. Have used Cortech and Nelson Riggs soft bags on my GS and other bikes often. Work well. Nothing matches the convenience of hard, locking, waterproof cases. But it's hard to beat the price, versatility, and weight of soft bags. Years ago some folks felt the Nelson Riggs 850 bags were the...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Had a meeting in Knoxville yesterday afternoon so rode over in the morning on I-40. After the meeting I spent the evening with Mr & Mrs BAATFAM sampling bourbon whiskey from BAATFAM's bourbon library as he calls it. Had a great time visiting with them and enjoying their hospitality. Took the...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I find myself really liking that instrument cluster. I also like the shifting into 3rd gear at 100 and shifting into 6th at 150. And the way the front end wants to float away. Very entertaining video :)

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Today I met some folks from the Middle TN Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives thread on ADV Rider for a lunch ride. Four of us gathered in Lebanon Cedars State Park (about 17 miles north of me) and rode a bunch of back roads to end up in Nolansville TN (about 30 miles west of me) for lunch at a greasy...

    Craigslist "funnies"

Interesting that the bike has "Just 14X00 mileage." and the "Oil changed initially at 600 mls...latest change @ 3,400 miles." So it was changed religiously every 600 miles until it reached 3400 miles, then no oil changes in the last 10k or so miles? Doesn't sound too fishy to me :)

    GUnk engine cleaner .. safe?

I had pretty good luck with Simple Green and a toilet brush on my old 750. It was never perfect but it was better. I bought a toilet brush specifically for that purpose. Didn't really want to employ a used one :)
