A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

rphillips invited me to join him for a ride today. First time we've met. Really enjoyed the ride and his company. Seems like he's up for a ride most anytime because he's retired. A fact that he's happy to rub in at every opportunity . We met near his place in Noreen (just a few miles...

My Blue Ridge Parkway Ride 2016

Sorry your trip ended this way. I too had a couple of occurrences of riding off with my side stand down. It's an easy thing to forget when there is a lot going on. While I'm not a big fan of nanny style safety gizmos, the side stand cut out switch on my more modern bikes has prevented this...

puncture kits when on road trips ?

I've used my slime compressor to inflate several tires that were flat after being repaired. Never had a problem with the bike starting afterward. Of course this is on my 07 Bandit, but would image a GS would be similar.

Next purchase conversation - power, miles, etc

Wow, that's quite a jump. From buying a new bike to moving. I've done both. Buying a bike is WAY more fun. But having relocated from Chicago to middle TN I can totally relate to feeling like you live in the wrong place. Middle TN is definitely the right place for me and my family. Where...

Next purchase conversation - power, miles, etc

I don't know about the FZ, but the Bandit's lower fairing is purely cosmetic. It's exactly what you need if you're going for looks. But if you were hoping it provides any additional wind/weather protection...well...it does not. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm half way thinking about...

    Which Garmin?

I gotta tell ya, I don't know why anyone would buy a stand alone GPS these days. My Galaxy S6 works great as a GPS. I can plan my routes off line using https://ridewithgps.com, load them into OSMAND+ on the phone, and away I go. I do miss the Galaxy S5 because it is waterproof, but I'll just...

Transporting an 1100g in a 6' pickup bed

I've been thinking of picking up a pair of these: http://www.discountramps.com/tailgate-support/p/TAILGATE-SUPPORT/ I've heard the stock tailgate supports can snap and that would suck if it happened while you were loading or unloading. Guess it would suck if you were going down the road too...

    Craigslist "funnies"

This place is the hidden gem I've been looking for. My shopping cart is full their stuff now. Everything from the Passenger Noise Reducer to the Pilot Wrench. Have to wait until my next paycheck to pull the trigger but can't wait to get a big performance boost from the Adjustable Power Band!!!

    Craigslist "funnies"

I'm pretty sure the radiator and hoses from any '70s model Ford pickup should bolt right on For blinker fluid, best source is probably Nickle Town Customs. I don't have the link to their website but Ichiban Moto (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC28gtkJP-bK77M5Qyc3Dn7g) uses their stuff all...

    Craigslist "funnies"

Oh yeah, sure. This is one of the rare parts that will work equally well on ANY model GS. I sure I could have fitted it my 77GS750 with a just a few mods to the frame.

Stupid Newby Tricks -- Riding with kickstand down and trying to turn left

Been there done that. Done it in front of a long line of traffic and in front of hundreds of bikers (mostly on Harleys). It's embarrassing and scary. Never had a crash because of it, but it could happen. Good luck with the phone company

New to the Thread 1978 GS750

Are you sure it's a 78? I thought only the 77 had spoke wheels and a single disk up front. That seat looks different than I remember my 77 looking though. I don't think mine had that strap running across it. Regardless, very pretty bike you have there. It's yours so do whatever you want...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Mid morning today I decided to take a long lunch to explore some of the fun roads I've been finding just north of me. After an hour or so I pulled into Edgar Evans State Park (http://tnstateparks.com/parks/about/edgar-evins) just to see what there was to see. It's a lovely little place on the...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I played hooky for 3 hours yesterday and explored some of the area around me. Weather was perfect, traffic was light, and no cops in sight (thank goodness!) Lots of nice views and twisty roads in middle TN. Came across this dam at the end of fun curvey section of road. The high side...

    Craigslist "funnies"

Yeah, its a 2004 Big Dog Ridgeback. Lots of them for sale on ebay. Definitely a check-book chopper. The ad claims that, "Guaranteed not to get lost in the bagger crowd." But my experience, anywhere there are a lot of baggers, there are a lot of bikes that look just like this. Show up to an...

    Stupidest Question of the Month

My 77GS750 was similar. I think I used the sparkplug wrench that fit the plug on my lawnmower.
