A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    DR 350 active websites

ADV has that DR 350 thread, one of the longest for any models. Use it like a sub forum. Also it has links to different DR 350 projects people have done. Great resource.

A question about aftermarket air filters/pods

He is exactly right. I'm switching everything over to CVs, as I live at 6,000 ft. and mostly ride higher than that, the wrong mixtures are annoying with non CV carbs, you have to feather the throttle up high, throttle response sucks, sometimes you don't have enough power to make it up a steep...

A question about aftermarket air filters/pods

Not sure exactly, probably that's part of it, and when the Suzuki and Mikuni engineers spent all that time and effort sorting out carburetion all those years ago that's what they were using. It's probably what they chose to use because they knew that amount of intake restriction worked the...

A question about aftermarket air filters/pods

One thing about the stock airbox is that it helps the engine run OK at a much wider range of elevations without changing jetting. You have CV carbs, they compensate for elevation changes very well. With altered air intake, not so much.

Your daily dose of stupidity.. or is it ingenuity?

Shorter spring is stiffer, too, not sure which would have the bigger effect. If it runs better that's a good thing but I'm kind of curious what actually happened.

    GS450S wheel thoughts

My 450 handled like crap with one size fatter tires, really felt terrible. Put on the proper size and it was sweet.

    GS450S wheel thoughts

The early GS550s had a drum rear brake, it's a bigger diameter drum than the 450s had but I bet you can make something work. Or use the entire 550 swingarm, wheel and brake assembly, shorten the swingarm a tad if you need to.

    2v 1000 budget cams??

Are you going with the 1100's pistons and cylinders, too? That's the current plan for my 750 once the 1000 engine is in.

    2v 1000 budget cams??

Four degrees is big, eight degrees is huge, but what they are not saying in those specs is how the cam timing is set. A few degrees one way or the other will completely alter the characteristics of any engine. Another thing you would want to compare is her far the cam opens the valve, and the...

    2v 1000 budget cams??

That's what you said about the 550 and 650 cams, which completely transformed the bike's powerband, and it's also what you said about doing the 650 top end on the 550, which completely transformed the whole machine. The difference in the 850 and the 750 is dramatic at higher RPM, and the...
