A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1981 GS850gl with Murray's Carbs

There is a lot to be said for "uniqueness factor", but there also has to be some other redeeming property to it. Being unique, for the sake of being unique sounds a lot like the LGBTQIAWHATEVERTF mentality

    NICHE Clutch Cable?

I have ordered parts from Niche cycle, and used cables from Motion Pro. They are just up the road from me & can make cables custom by length, or other. I had them make a speedo cable that was GSXR on the bottom and GS on the top. Ready in a couple of days. Never used their clutch cable though...

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

Thanks for that Greg. I have seen numbers all over the place with regards to LSA for this motor. I asked on another site where this swap has been done before and was advised as wide as 110 degrees. I think part of the dilemma is because of the slingshot head, a high revving, short stroke motor...

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

So over the weekend I dressed the weld on the head using a half round file. It'll work fine for this situation And I faffed around with AN lines and oil coolers It's so crazy... :smiley_simmons: these parts were meant to go together!

As some parts come in, onto the es they go. Clutch pack was within spec and reinstalled with OEM clutch cover gasket. Pictures back from the welder (Thanks Steve!) setting up the head.

1981 GS1100E cam timing set up

If I follow you and your manual... it is trying to tell you that the BOTH cam shafts are to be installed so that the notches are on the same side of the motor as the brake lever... the RIGHT side. That is to say, when sitting on the bike, the rider's right hand.

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

Thanks Greg, that's good info about cam timing. I will certainly put it into the data base. Yes Sir, I'm familiar with metal distortion. If we get that much heat that the distortion rears it's ugly head, we have access to a milling machine & a lathe. Never seen angled carb rubbers either, but if...

Mock up time while other bits get finalized... Carbs stuffed in... Fuel tank "on"... that's gonna take some fettling. After removing petcock, signs of improvement! Head mods in general With that small piece of aluminum welded in place, the mating surfaces will actually meet up all the...

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

So, I dropped the head onto the bike, with the newly installed studs.... before I realized which location was to use the acorn/closed top nuts and which locations were to use the open nuts.:o Looks like I'll be rearranging the studs. The only location for the open nuts is the very outside...
