    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Why hello there.

Hey Crank, Thanks for the big font on a foggy Sunday morning. You have profiled us well if you think we are geezers. You might have to get a bit more personal with details about your GS and even drop a photo so the geezers here won't think you're a political refugee from a fictitious country...

Is the swingarm on my '83 1100E stock?

I was in the camp that thought 82-83 were the same except the finish. 82 chrome - 83 black. looking at the rear foot peg / exhaust hanger casting its obvious those are different parts that makes me wonder if the mount point on the exhausts are different. On a side note - I notice scratches on...

installing a volt meter on gs1100e

"FYI i did replace r/r with COMPU-fire r/r and everything checks out charging system wise when bike is running, but after getting hot and then slowing down i start to see boggy throttle, jerking, surging power etc." A little off topic... but what is the voltage at your coils ? My EZ had similar...

installing a volt meter on gs1100e

This may not answer your question, but I use these current monitors on AC heating elements in a oven at work. They don't tell you specific voltage or current. They connect to a small lite that tells me if the element is working or not.

    Buying brake pads

BUYING BRAKE PADS Shopping for pads and saw this on the Dennis Kirk web site. NOTE: NEVER USE SINTERED BRAKE PADS IN BIKES ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH NON-SINTERED BRAKE PADS. Check your owners manual to see if sintered metal brakes were OEM equipment on your motorcycle. Not sure what that means...

    Instability at high speeds

Same, same, same. My solution is to just not go 100mph. I know.....IT SUX !!! My list of replacements and checks is twice as long as yours. My anomaly is more like a "weave" as if the bike is a hinge.

    Close one

That just happened to me except I was in my truck and an un-helmeted guy on a loud, low, cruiser blew a stop sign to make a right turn right in front of me. I made a move into the on-coming lane and let him get in front of me. Not sure he ever even saw me.......

To Seafoam or not to Seafoam

I have no scientific proof but I would stick to what it says on the label for the amount to add. I had some pretty clean carbs and was over-dosing with stable and seafoam and the new orings and rubber bits started breaking down in a matter of a couple years.....

Replacing just the fuel fuel lines

Take a look at Mr. bwringers carb tutorial. Lots of things you won't have to do but it will give you a feel of what you will need to do. My biggest obstacle the first time was the stiff forward boots. With new flexible boots it was much easier. I got a new OEM "T" from the Suzuki dealer...
