DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1980 gs1000e what carbs should be fitted as standard

My other gs1000 has a later gsx1100 tank with 50mm tap mount. I slotted the holes on an early type tap, very carefully not to go too far. 20200605_102126 by Dennis Harland, on Flickr So it can be done.

1980 gs1000e what carbs should be fitted as standard

Just a thought on the picture of the carb set, the idle adjuster knob is on the top. A gs1000 with VM carbs, 26 or 28 the adjuster was on the bottom between 2 and 3. So that set could be from a 750 or a 79 850g.

    GS1000N renovation/resurrection.

Today I took the bike for a ride to get MOT, it passed with no issues. It goes like a scalded cat, pulls very clean and strong. 20 mile round trip and nothing fell off or come loose. Washing off the road salt when it cooled off took an hour. I checked the plugs and there all a good even colour...

Finally got the seat finished, I think I've done better in the past, a few small bumps in the cover. Hope it smoothes out over time. Put some fuel in the tank and the tap/petcock leaked. Back to the parts stache for another one. New AGM battery fitted and it started first try, sounds good. Next...

GSXR7ED, thanks for the comment. It wont be long now and the bike will be complete and will post a picture or 2. The American market got two versions of that model, cast wheels and twin disc front and the basic like mine.

I got the front end in today, brakes all bled with new fluid. The front roadrider MK2 was a tight fit, took a bit persevering to get to sit on the rim 45psi did the trick. The seat is next to do. 20200222_151117 by Dennis Harland, on Flickr 20200222_151208 by Dennis Harland, on Flickr

    Clutch won?t engage properly

What bike is this ?. If it's a gs550 or 750 maybe the push rod free play needs adjustment. Slack off the cable adjuster and read a manual to set push rod then cable.

Does stock 1980 GS1000 exhaust baffle come out?

These are Sito replacement silencers, they have the Y piece built in. All you do to fit them is cut at the weld joint on pipes 2 & 3. Marving do the same silencers. I can recommend both types, they are made in Italy. 20181018_110035 by Dennis Harland, on Flickr

Spokes ! Got to like them. The wheels have cleaned up quite good, no need for a respoke yet. When I bought this bike I didn't get a title, only a VJMC dating letter. So I was unsure which state it came from. The left fork leg has some decals on but I never took much notice of them. Seems like...
