A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1980 Suzuki GS1000E - Help Determining Needle Jet Size

The CV carb is designed to operate with the dead air volume the airbox and connector tubes provide. There is a wider range of jetting that they will work just fine with if fitted with one. Pods do not provide this and turbulence will interfere with the slide operation.

    Painting over chrome fenders?

Mine is painted as well. When I repainted it to black, after stripping it all that had been done to it was heavy sanding to etch it all up for the paint to adhere. Still holding up 3 years later.

Why no silicone valve cover gasket if tach drive in valve cover?

The stock gasket won't stick if antisieze is applied to it. It can be reused once or twice.

I had a 900 Ninja, first year as well. It needed the starter clutch replaced and a few other things. I almost had to give it away. I was surprised that it wasn't worth more. What did you get for yours?

No antisieze. There is a tool that the kit provides to install. The steps are drill, tap, install. Any questions please ask.

That is the typical sale price.
  19. 1980GS1000E

    Cylinder head receiving thread stripped

Yes as the helicoil will retain the stock size and be much stronger than the original. Racers routinely install helicoils or timeserts in aluminum cases and covers just to eliminate the stripped thread issue. My Honda CB1100F has 8 bolts holding the valve cover on. Guess how many are helicoiled.

While you are at it, get the HF lift table- http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-capacity-motorcycle-lift-68892-8495.html Wait until it goes on sale though and then use a 20% off coupon.
