A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Brakes, front tire, chain

If you have the stock brakes & you haven't rebuilt them and replaced the lines there will be all sorts of junk in there. By flushing the fluid you've probably also stirred it all up. There is also a pressure release hole that gets blocked in the master cylinder. Check yours is clear. :)

    New clutch

I can't remember how those push rod ones work as it's been over 15 years since I worked on one but on the other style it's simple a case of not having the mechanism rotated to take out all the slack before putting the arm on the splines. Vaguely recall there being something you need to do to...

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

A conventional tank uses about 40,000 BTU at full chat. A tankless is around 250,000 BTU at full chat... :)

    Front brake pad replacements

Quite a few people using the twinpot calipers & bigger rotors... That is a night & day difference! https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/performance-tuning-mods/33111-twinpot-brake-upgrade-on-78-skunk

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

I don't think the Tankless stuff is going anywhere... I had just fitted a condensing tankless gas combi boiler in my house in the UK over 20 years ago before I came here! The prior one was also Tankless and had been there at least a dozen years (not condensing though). Let's just say the US is a...

Any Audiophile Steamers Out There ?

Joe Nardy is a speaker guy.... I have an Integra Receiver running a Velodyne sub along with a set of 5 Boston Acoustics speakers (re-foamed as they are from the 80's...) there is a PC supplying it for streaming (or Airplay/bluetooth) and I have a Pioneer CD hooked up to it as well. Doesn't sound...

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

You’re right but I haven’t seen evidence of that in my other one. :) been running it over a a year now so you’d have thought it would have showed up. Maybe the diverter helps to flush any of that stuff down the downspout instead of into the barrel or maybe because it’s so dry between rain...

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Looking at your calipers I’d consider replacing them. Plenty of them in good condition here in the US but there must be some ex650 ones in decent shape over there you would think. they are a different caliper to what you have there. Still Tokico but both pistons are the same size and the...

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

Yes the two lower spigot connections are water tight. I have taps on them. I guess in their ordinary setup they provide two different connections for draining/using the water. It works pretty good. Stagnation isn’t an issue because the barrel is sealed, the mozzies can’t get in….

    JB Weld carb?

When I did it I put a peg inside vertically and then cross drilled it and inserted horizontal and snipped it close. as I said it wasn’t easy but it did work. all in it’s easier probably to get a new carb body….

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

Yeah that would be a lot of rain for here! If we get 2” in 24 hours that would be a lot! :) I don’t see an issue where it wouldn’t be able to cope but the redirect would deal with it anyway so the gutter wouldn’t overflow. thanks for doing the sums! :)

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

We don't get a lot of rain here..... but sometimes when it does there's a lot. Yes, essentially to your surge question and the overflow will let me move some water elsewhere when it does rain. It's sealed and has a drain from the bottom (to use it to water plants later) so I'm not worried about...

No Spark on 2 and 3! Frustrating as can be.

How long was it parked? Sounds like it could also be a fuel issue (i.e. no fuel getting to cylinder). If you put a high dose of Seafoam or similar in the tank & run it around you might get lucky otherwise Carbs will need to come off to be cleaned..... When were the carbs last cleaned & O rings...

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

I have a plan to connect a rain barrel to one of our spouts. I will also likely have condensate from a dehumidifier running into it too through the top (mostly inconsequential as even on a really bad day it would be less than 3 Gallons). I think that my illustration is correct but I wanted to...

    Aftermarket Master Cylinder/reservoir/lever recommendations

The one Nessism recommends is highly recommended. Works very well with both OEM Calipers & the Twinpot calipers used in the brake upgrade. :)

    JB Weld carb?

I've done it by drilling it & inserting a brass rod up the middle of the post & then into the body. Wasn't easy but it seemed to work.

    Medical breakthrough for men

Been reading a book about "ultra processing" in the food industry.... eye opening too. Again a perfect example of science being bent to show what big industry wants it to!

    Medical breakthrough for men

Success rates of a reversal are quite low in reality. A lot of people end up having it extracted instead.
