A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Numbers of bikes Suzuki sold?

Does anyone have any info on how many GS bikes Suzuki sold over the years? Preferably broken down by models and years. It's not important, I'm just curious. For instance, how many GS1100E's did they build and sell in 1981?

Now I'm happy I asked this question. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I'm glad I asked.

81' GS550 Cafe Racer Kickstart Retrofit

I suppose the easy way would be to stick an earlier engine in the frame. I bet you could find an earlier, kickstarting engine and either put it there complete, or, take it apart and use the parts to build what you want. Look around.

    Clutch wont do sh*t...

You could do a Hertfelder (We all remember the Duct Tapes, don't we?) and reline the plates with sheet cork and contact cement. After you JBWeld the pieces back together, that is.

    Chain Lube?

I have been watching videos lately and something puzzles me: how do people keep the chains so clean? The Ratzuki is a shaftie so the question didn't pop up for me till recently. In the old days, putting chain lube on a chain meant picking up dirt, fluff, and whatever which made the chain look...

    New Engine Break In Procedure

When i bought my 81 gs1100 i asked the dealer that same question. His advice: break it in the way youre gonna ride it. I did, without getting crazy on it, and never had any engine trouble for about 25k miles, when the clutch started slipping. After putting new plates in it, it ran great for...

How do these brake pads look?

When I acquired the Ratzuki several years ago, one of the things that needed doing was to rebuild the brakes. (One of quite a few things, actually) I didn't do the work myself, as I wouldn't have trusted the work if I did it. The mechanic I found to do it replaced the master cylinder and brake...

How do these brake pads look?

Go ahead and replace them, since you've already got them off. Brake pads aren't expensive, and those are done.

    Should I replace this tire?

Some things are not worth trying to stretch: tires and brakes are high on that list. Don't take chances with your irreplacable body. Toss that tire......NOW. (edit) And take a good close look at the other one too.

    New seat cover help

Nice Bike! That seat looks like a custom job, so any recover will have to be hand made. That said, anything you want in terms of colors is available. Most people seem to prefer all black. You could look around the site here and see what there is to see. I recommend the BOTM (Bike of the Month)...

    1984 Katana 7/11

As I recall ........ I got about 2000 miles (3000km more or less) out of the rear Mag Mopus that came stock on my GS1100 way back when. Didn't take long to do it either.

Spend much time at 3/4 to full throttle and you'll be buying LOTS of new rear tires, that is, when yer not in jail.

I remember well the "arm-stretching" of my old 81 gs1100e. Ya had to have it pointed in the right direction when ya pulled the trigger on that bike.
