A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

Dandypop.. heres my angle. WHY spend 100 on anything off ebay and have it be bad or not solve anything when for another 60 or 70 bucks just go dyna and know absolutely youll never have to deal with obsolete ignition crap again. Now if you just wat to spend double eventually them go for it. And...

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

If you put a dyna ignition in it the igniter (CDI) goes away. You simply wire the red wire into one of theb12 volt supply leads to a coil. The black lead goes to one coil and the white to the other. If it wont start or pops and backfires switch the nlack and white leads. Toss the igniter.

    Starter Clutch Upgrade

Typically heat and magnets dont play well together. So im wondering with the extreme heat of welding on a rotor does it impact the magnetism and does it harm the adhesion of the magnets to the rotor? Whats it charging at after the retrofit? The overriding problems with stock setup are the...

    Intermittent overflow

I would check the float arent canted and rubbing on the gaskets and that the overflow tube isnt cracked at the seam. Put a line on the overflow nipple and fill the bowl with water. Put finger over the tube and blow in the line and if theres any crack youll see bubbles. Polish clean and flux and...

My test shim in each valve was a 240. Regardless of what the original shim was i put in a 240 and came up with what to tip each valve. Here is the data from intake 1 as the example of what i went through for each valve. All valves are now good clearances. I used one 290 from the shim kit. All...

Brian. This part of the reason for tipping valves. GENERALLY ive found theres around 40/1000 that can be taken off the stems which leaves 15/000 for contact on the spot inside the buclets. Most stock first run shims are in the 270 range. Shims go up to 315 in my factory kit which will never be...

So my next step is put the valves and buckets with their designated shims back in and install the cams. I numbered each valve and each shim with what position it came from before disassembly so ill start with each one in its original spot. Then use feeler guages to find the gaps. For instance...
