A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Potential Group Purchase - Wiseco GS650 741cc pistons

Overbore 65mm. I will keep them available to you guys. I scooped just so they wouldn't disappear. I'm still on the fence. I tend to not know what the heck I want depending on the day of the week.

Potential Group Purchase - Wiseco GS650 741cc pistons

Not to be harsh either. But I revved the 673 well past 10500 numerous times and it keeps on making power. This was with 550 cams and stock 650 head and pistons. I rode a real bike with a real engine. I firmly believe the stock valves and head are more then adequate. Carbs, ignition, exhaust and...

Potential Group Purchase - Wiseco GS650 741cc pistons

I really want these, but life is taking another unexpected turn. Going to be moving again and need to tighten up finances. I wish you all the best. I am out for the time being. Maybe in a couple months I can be back in on this. These pistons with some Wed cams should push some serious power...

Finally getting around to the 550/699 project....

Man, It's so nice to hear a comparison finally instead of just armchair engineering talk. I am confident in sticking with the 550 cams now. Thanks for the feedback.

    T8's 750 Cafe Racer Project

Good write up. Now that I'm getting a little older I couldn't agree more. To add to that. Doing things just to do them when there are readily available options goes along the same lines. Take my DRZ supermoto. I could have bought a supermoto wheelset that would cost around $1000 but I used...

Mike R's GS550/650 bare bones street racer

I removed everything on the cases except the head studs. Flushed in a parts washer and used brushes through every passageway and threaded hole. I am going to run both cases through my dishwasher for a final cleaning and degrease before moving on.

I ordered the Alumiprep 33 and Alodine 1001 . I'm going to give that a try and if it fails like you had happen I'll just blast it again. I'll have the chemicals for other aluminum parts I want to paint anyway. I researched the Gunkote and I'm going to go with that. I already have a touch up...

Mike R's GS550/650 bare bones street racer

This is some useful info, thank you. a couple questions: If the alumprep turns it black and I'm painting it black would it even matter? or is it turning black for bad chemical reaction reasons? The Gunkote as in epoxy aerosol cans? And if so what do you use as primer or do you paint directly...

dorkburger - Been in the new house for a year and a half now. Have the single bay garage setup for working on my bikes. Bought a harbor freight lift table which makes life so much easier. Thanks! DohcBikes - sprocket nut was my fault for not rechecking. The pin clip is just crap luck. Either...

Mike R's GS550/650 bare bones street racer

Rob S.- I could probably do that but I enjoy the look of the exposed lines. I've been working on this project again lately. I pulled the engine to fix the stripped counter shaft sprocket bolt and replace the head gasket. In the process I found one of the pistons ejected a wrist pin...

It was off a 90-95 generation gsxr 1100 engine. I will probably be going back to cable clutch for simplicity and feel. As for now... Just purchased a 2013 GSXR 600 for a daily bike. Cant beat fuel injection and brand new for reliability. I have a couple more projects to finish around my...

T8, Every time I see an update on your bike I get a little more jealous. I haven't touched mine in months and every update you post there is some new cool machined bit. Keep it up.

Easy, 750 is larger. 673cc has same power as 750, and 550 base is 6 speed trans.

Man, that upper shock mount is a beauty. Also a great idea since that will tie everything together solidly. Good work.
