A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rain Barrel Plumbing - Any fluid engineers in the house?

Is the purpose of the barrel just to control (delay) the surge? To get an idea of how much water might be involved, you will need to know the square footage of collection on the roof (viewed from straight overhead, not perpendicular to the roof plane) and the amount of rainfall. Knowing how...

1981 Suzuki GS 850 carb tuning

A larger pilot is almost never needed, if everything else is set correctly. Tight valves REALLY affect cold starting, so start there. Once the valves are set, try the proper starting technique. Set "choke" to full. Turn key ON. Pull clutch lever. Push starter button. Do NOT move throttle...

    Inner Tubes...are they needed?

Some wheels were certified for tubless use, they will indicate that on the webbing between the 'spokes' on the rim. Many have converted tube-type to tubless use, but there are some potential issues doing that.

    Valve Cover Gasket

One extra step that I use (especially with new half-moons) is to use the Threebond on the curved surfaces, then install the cam cover with NO gasket. Clamp it down and leave it overnight, then take it off and install the gasket.

    GS850GL engine year identification

The "choke" system is different on the '82 and up carbs. The shape of the clutch cover is different on '82 and up. The black engines started in '83. The hex head bolts started in '82. The extra cam cover bolts started in '82.

    Relay upgrades for '79 GS850G

And yet, you are getting all your relays from Amazon?

    Why hello there.

Yes, you still need an account somewhere to host the pictures, but most here are of the opinion that the name Photobucket is misspelled. Take out the b and install an f. I have not kept track of what the current favorite is, as I don't post any pictures.

    Windshield/flyscreen recommendation?

I have had a couple National Cycle Street Shields, both of them were the EX version, for easy install/removal. Almost the same protection of a larger shield (which I prefer), but does not look out of place.

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

If you are comfortable with wiring, you can do this automatically with a relay. Install the relay between the fuse and the headlight, using the NC (normally closed) contacts of the relay. Wire the relay trigger to the starter solenoid, so when you push the starter button, it opens the contacts...

    Modification for Taller Ride Height?

Just how tall are you? I know several members here who have 850Gs or 1000Gs (essentially the same bike) and are well over six feet tall and have no problems. Longer shocks (up to an inch) are not a problem, but getting the correct spring on the shocks is probably going to be a better...

If you do go with a 650 swingarm, make SURE it's from a 650E.

    Gs550 cv carb help please

The most you should have to do (after a proper carb cleaning) is to richen the pilot mixture a bit. Stock setting (in the US) was about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated. Most of us have found that about 2 turns out does wonders. Make sure the rubber plugs are in place over the...

    Fuel/vac line routing

It will actually work better if you DO have hoses on them. Those vents are the atmospheric reference for the float bowls. The pressure difference between the bowls and the venturis determines how much fuel flows through the jets. There is a bit of turbulence behind the engine. That will...

    We are finally there!

Just watched the video. Nice to hear it finally run, but it will run even smoother if you plug that air leak on Number 2 intake.

650E model vs 650G model --- Whats compatable?

The frames are vastly different, due to the drive method. The wiring might have a few minor differences, but should largely be the same, depending on the year(s). Since both are '81, that shouldn't be (much of) a problem. Good news? The valve caps on the tires are directly interchangable...

The LED board rear taillight oem shaped plug and play

Since you are a newer member, let me offer a few things. 1. What bike??? Presumably a Suzuki, but there are a LOT of different tail lights. Once you figure out what you have, add it to a signature, so you don't have to mention it every time. 2. If you are going to be reducing the electrical...

    M-unit and Lithio Battery

Helped a guy wire an M-unit a few years ago. It was not the Blue version, but seemed to be overly-complex anyway. After getting it all wired and running (not very easily), it seemed to be a bit of a pain to use, as you had to learn a bunch of new routines for operating the various circuits...
