I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Mystery of the Wandering Idle SOLVED! [Mine at least]

Do you mean the mixture screw or throttle stop screw? Either way there should be a spring on both which stops them from moving through vibration regardless of the closeness of fit .

    compression/valve clearance gs1100e

If it's just the higher comp pistons with stock lift cams then there should be no issues.. High comp aftermarket pistons will have the valve pockets machined with the appropriate clearance and in fact usually have the valve pockets deeper and wider than stock to accommodate larger valves and...

    Gs1150 carbs on gs1000

The GS1000 carbs are vm26ss or vm28ss slide carbs i presume ??? Needing no choke means it is too rich and rough bottom end and struggling higher up when warm is likely worn and leaking choke plungers. Also the 45 pilots and 120 mains are miles too big. 95 main is stock and with quality pods you...

Rejetting for 4into1 pipes on gs850glt

Delkevic list their exhausts as needing no jetting changes when using the stock air box but it sounds like you may need to go up a size or so on the mains if there are no other faults or changes causing the issue.

Why does intake leak cause hanging high idle ?

Extra air or reduced fuel amount to the same thing.. A lean mix..

Why does intake leak cause hanging high idle ?

Air leak = hanging idle due to a leaner mix. Lean = more power until the overly lean mix produces too much heat and detonation which then leads to engine failure. Engine failure is usually piston damage or seizure amongst others.

GS550 with Mikuni Dual Throat Carb, No Info

Sounds like a home spun conversion possibly using a pair of Z1300 or Mikuni Solex N40PHH ( Datsun etc ) carbs Pics would help.. The different jetting is usually to correct the A/F ratio caused by differing air flow rates through unbalanced airbox intake or manifold tracts.

    How to raise the needle?

I make the air correctors specific for several Suzuki (and Kawasaki) models with both Mikuni VM or Mikuni CV carbs and can also provide recommended main jet sizes as a starting point. They go in the main air jet passage to the needle jet tube which is located at the 4 'o'clock position in the...

    How to raise the needle?

Your issue is likely a lean spot on the transition from the pilot jet to the jet needle. Normally this off idle hesitation is a result of removing the airbox and running open stacks / pods or modifying the airbox to significantly increase airflow . The cure for this on your machine would be to...

    How to raise the needle?

What size is the stock main jet ? Is it 115 ?

Can anyone help tell me a good starting jet for a 79 GSE 550 with air filter pods?

Assuming your carbs are the correct VM22's with the kidney shaped passage at the 10 o'clock position in the mouth of the carb - The pilot jet should be a size 15 and an 80 main jet as stock. When running without a stock airbox you should fit air corrector jets to cure the off idle hesitation/...

    What are these holes for?

The brass outlets are simply float bowl breathers and should be kept open to atmosphere with some open ended hose attached which either connects to the original airbox or hang down behind the rear of the engine.

    Broken carb fuel mixture tip

Damage to the venturi floor doesn't really matter as long as the screws seat is untouched and doesn't leak when the mixture screw is full closed lightly. The seat is on the underside and was formed when the mixture screw hole was machined and threaded etc so unless the awl broke through you...

    Broken carb fuel mixture tip

That's the way it needs to go but you may need to use penetrating fluid and other methods such as dunking the body in boiling water or using an ultrasonic cleaner etc to help release it. If the tip can be seen protruding above the venturi floor then you should use a broader tipped tool to exert...

    Piston Condition

The scuffing isn't critical, It's the piston to bore clearance that is. As long as it will tolerate a hone for the new rings without exceeding the specs just re-use them.
