I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

IGNITION TIMING, Stock Signal Generator Installation

Hello, It's been about 8 months since I've been on here. That being because this site really helped me get my 750 back on the road! However, I have a new issue that I've been stuck on and looking for any advice or help. I had to remove the stock signal generator, on my 81 GS750E, while doing...

Starter button issue? Is it possible?

Could it also possibly be the starter motor going bad or its' internal parts wearing out?

Oil Cooler Adapter plate for 1981 GS750E, where to find/ Exists?

Good afternoon, I have seen a few riders successfully install an oil cooler system on their 750E; Lockhart, braided lines, etc. I'm having difficulty finding the adapter plate/hardware for the (oil filter cover) for the lines coming from the oil cooler. Some look like they have a custom billet...

The Fear of Failure (First time restoration woes)

That is majorly encouraging based on that picture haha! I've since gotten over the hill (engine up and running) but eventually I'll need to replace motor gaskets, and that's a little intimidating, but I have the Clymer manual :dancing:

Starter button issue? Is it possible?

Thank you! Would you be able to elaborate a little more? Did the re-solder the wires?

Starter button issue? Is it possible?

Thank you both. I will try disassembling and cleaning the starter housing and switch! If it still persist's, I may see if replacing it all together with an after market starter would be the next best answer?

Starter button issue? Is it possible?

Hello, My GS750E is up and running. Runs well. However, occasionally if the bike is turned off via the kill switch, or you stall the bike, pressing the starter button will do absolutely nothing. Note that I have removed the clutch sensor since I replaced the whole wiring harness and it omitted...

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

Thank you all! Continuing to take notes here. I'll post updates periodically :)

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

UPDATE: Success! Thank you all for your help. It ended up being I had the leads from the igniter to the coils backward. Once I swapped them it fired up immediately without hesitation. I then did a carb synch with the gauge set and got the idle right. No stumble on acceleration either. The only...

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

Nice. Great information thank you. I'll come back with an update. I for sure know I didn't check which wires went to which coil. I didn't know they had a designated coil and assumed it didn't really matter. I'm lucky if that ends up being the issue and we can move forward. She sounds like she...

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

I understand. Fortunately, I didn't take the spark advancer out at all. I only checked the condition of the housing gasket and the condition of the wires, being so old. I am curious about your theory, hmm.

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

Thank you kindly sir. I will check on that for sure. So you're saying the leads from the igniter go to specific coils? Did I misunderstand that part?

Finish line in sight, but won't turn over!

Thank you for the fast reply. I was planning on checking that next, but I removed the pods last night and I saw fuel residue in the throat of each carb, but it really wasn't much. If I take the drain bolts out and not much fuel empties, what would this mean possibly? The petcock is failing? I...
