If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1979 GS750 running problems

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions, much appreciated. Chuck, the petcock was defo in the run position, not on prime. I have taken the tank off many times over the years, so that is why it caught me by surprise when fuel flowed out the petcock. Crazyramen, I did get a cheapish petcock, not...

    1979 GS750 running problems

Yeah, that did occur to me and think another guy mentioned that in a previous post about the petcock. Think I got away with it, no change in level and no smell of fuel when the oil filler cap removed. But will change oil anyway as it is due an oil change. Thanks for the input though, much...

    1979 GS750 running problems

I know this is not the section for tech questions, but not sure whether problem is fuel, electrical or something else. So, bike had been running fine but one day began to fluff, lose power and cut out. Would not start up again, until about 20 minutes later. Set off again only for the same thing...

    Petcock issues !

Will do, needs an oil change anyway :)! Trying to decide whether to try the petcock from an old tank I have in the spares hut, or just get a re-build kit or new pattern unit. Read bad reports about both the latter. Rubber components in the old tank`s units may be shot, but may be worth a try.

    Petcock issues !

I have a 1979 GS750, with the vacuum operated petcock. Has not been run for around 5 months, but couple of weeks back wheeled her out of the garage to get at another bike and put her on the sidestand. Later, noticed a pool of petrol underneath and could see a steady drip. Checked the petcock...

    Bike/parts values in UK

Been thinking now old age is creeping up on me, that I need to clear out the garage so the wife and kids don`t have that problem when I pop my clogs. Not sure what price to put on things though. I have a 1978 GS750 which is tax exempt and MOT`d, another in bits in the shed along with a GS550...

    Petcock issue ?

I did read that thread, seems similar that is for sure, but with mine no popping and spitting, just feels like it is missing then power just fades away. Also ran fine up to and over 60mph, after it stopped the first time and when it finally started again, still ran great up to that speed until I...

    Petcock issue ?

I did try on both reserve (tank was low but don`t think low enough to need to turn to reserve) and prime, but did`nt seem to help.

    Petcock issue ?

Been having a few running issues with my 1979 GS750, which I have sought advice about before but still have not sorted out. Usually she runs well, but every so often between 50-60mph she seems to intermittently lose power, but a few more revs and she picks up again. Last week-end though, I was...

    Puzzled !

Thanks Salty-monk, sorry for delay in saying that, been a few things keeping me off the bike and forum for a while !. I will check the tank and the petcock. I suspect I may have other issues with the latter so have posted another query in the fuel/carbs section.

    Puzzled !

Thanks guys. I think I do need to pull the carbs and give them a thorough service, but the breather pipe trick is something I was told about many years ago for when a bike is hard to start after a while of sitting unused, I guess it just sort of primes the carbs. Works every time though. I have...

    Puzzled !

This one has me stumped, so just thought I would ask if anyone has had a similar problem or can suggest anything. Took my 78 GS750 out for a run the other day, as usual after sitting for a while I needed to blow a couple of times into the carb breather pipes before she would fire up. Bike ran...

    Running problems

Thanks guys, I will check those leads and earths. Think the charging system is ok as battery ok and she cranks over fast. Hopefully will put on my detective`s hat and take a look this week-end if I can sort out the garage lights first, also got a leak in the roof now too !. Before I got married...

    Running problems

I guess this should be posted in the technical section, but not sure under which heading it would go. Took Gessie 2 out for a spin a couple of weeks back, bike was running great so must admit the last few miles I opened her up for a bit of "spirited riding". On the way back she started to run a...

    Running issue, fuel related ?

Been having an intermittent issue with my 1979 GS750, not sure if fuel or electric related so thought I would see if anyone has any thoughts. Bike starts well and runs well once warmed up, but occasionally seems to start bogging down, have to really twist the throttle to keep it going. Weird as...

    Blowing fuse

Been having a few issues with the fuse on my 79 GS750. A couple of months back I went out for a run, bike ran fine. Stopped for gas, when I came to start her up all electrics cut out, no ignition light, Checked the fuse and it had blown, but fortunately had a few assorted fuses in with the...

    Puzzling brake issue with CX500

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. Must admit I wanted to keep the original master cylinder, so could be the problem area as although I cleaned out the bore, I could`nt get the plastic resevoir off as the screw heads just chewed up, so I could`nt clean out beneath it or access the two holes to...

    Puzzling brake issue with CX500

Thanks Grimly, that was the opinion of most of the guys on the CX forum too, so think it must be the problem. Only thing I can`t understand though is why the brakes would apply themselves like that while I was actually riding. I did of course use the front brake to stop at a junction, so could...

    Puzzling brake issue with CX500

I have posted about this on a couple of CX500 forums, but am still non the wiser, so thought I`d ask on here as I know we have some pretty clever mechanically minded members not just where GS`s are concerned either !. It has me a bit stumped, so any thoughts appreciated. So, last year I...

    Accident o

Just found this thread, easy to take a low speed spill at Hardknott with the steep gradient and tight switchbacks, ask me how I know !. Real bad luck to have such a serious injury though, hope you make a full recovery.
