A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pilot Jet vs Pilot Air Screw??

Sorry to revive a dead thread but how many turns should the pilot air jet be set to? The manual says this is pre-set (along with the pilot screw) and while I've found numbers for what the pilot screw should be, I've yet to see anything for the pilot air jet As I've recently been told, that jet...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Interesting, I'll add that to the list to check tomorrow. Is there a recommended place to get shims? I see them on www.cmsnl.com but didn't know if there were any other recommended places

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

He responded and said the 450 ones didn't work so I might have to find some or make my own I have all the service manuals for this bike but they have different carbs than the ones I have here

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Oh man you're right, I totally forgot about that. Now that you mention that, my old Honda was the same way. They're pretty flat. Again, I'd be surprised if this was the cause given that the propane torch didn't cause any jump in RPM, but I'll replace these anyway just in case. Thanks!

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Boots between the carb and engine. Good condition, not hard, no cracks, and weirdly don't have o-rings. Just these big ridges that fit into the carb

Other picture. The red boxes are fuel mixture screws

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Hey all, so I'm having the classic "hanging idle", but mine also seems to increase as well. I'll get the bike running, it'll be fine and then sit high and sometimes keep going up on its own. I've read that this can be an air leak issue and I've tried the unlit propane torch trick and the RPM...

    Pilot Jet Stripped

Yep, I hate to have inherited this problem, but at least when I'm done I'll know they're good to go. jetsrus.com seems perfect; first time hearing about this site and it seems to have everything. Thanks!

    Pilot Jet Stripped

Took the carbs off the new bike because the previous previous owner (PPO) had pods on it. The carbs would also leak on the side stand; so I wanted to open them up and just clean everything, get some new gaskets, and see if I need to re-jet them back to stock (it has an airbox now). To my...

    Hackers and our forum

I realize I'm the noob here, but by day I'm a Senior Software Engineer. I've done security work in the past and run my own server from home. One thing you all could do (if you haven't already) is move your domain admin from GoDaddy.com to Cloudflare. You get a lot of security and distribution...

    Will I die? - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

Yep, I saw plenty of tube-type->tubeless conversion posts. Assuming the PO didn't already do that (or there's secretly a tube in the rear tire), I'll check those out. Thanks again for clarifying/confirming.

    Will I die? - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The *tires* are tubeless, but the wheel itself is marked as "J", which I'm pretty sure means it needs a tube If I'm understanding you correctly, it should be fine to use this tubeless tire on the rear so long as it has a tube?

    Will I die? - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

I know I'm committing a near-sin here by asking about tires but I really just need to know if this thing is gonna explode or pop a bead while I'm trying to ride lol. Recently got this bike and have been trying to go through things and make sure it'll be ready to ride when the time comes. Front...

    Another newbie - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

More of these work, thanks! However the "GS400-450 '77-'87" service manual just dumps me at Microsoft OneDrive and says I don't have access. But I'm pretty sure this is the Clymer manual I already have. What I'd really like is the "GS450 Wiring Diagram (color)", but I might be able to find that...

    Another newbie - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

Hello all! I moved at the end of last year, and with that sold my 1978 Honda CB400A. It wasn't running when I got it and I used that to cut my teeth on motorcycle repair and mechanics in general (I'm a programmer by day, so I'm usually messing with electronics and software). Got it running...
