DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a chance to get a set of 03 GSXR-1000 K3 USD forks and trees for $200 plus a little extra for the calipers..

Are these good ones to use on a GS1000 or are they going to be really short?

I know I'll need the 30x47 conversion bearing to mount them up.

I run the 04 Gixxer 1000 forks on my bike. They're really short. With a twinshock rear setup, you're gonna low riding and dragging your header. Have you considered either longer forks or doing a monoshock conversion in the rear?

Can you get "extension" caps for those ones? There are a couple of places that make them now.
Basically an extended top cap that allows you to push the forks through another inch or two & bolt the triple around the new cap instead of around the fork leg.

The Stepped Honda triples would buy you an inch too...

Yeah that what I'm finding.Something like 725mm vs 775 for the 1000 USD's. Guess I'll hold out till I can get a set of GSXR1100 forks.

I have the parts to do a mono shock but I don't want to make any permanent alterations to my 78.. I'd do it to my 79 L but I'm not sure I'll keep it around after I finish the 78 E

Thanks!

I modified a GS 1000 to take GSX R 1100 K ( 89) suspension and wheels.
The bike is a delight to ride but...the ground clearance could be an issue on a track as I have less than 45? static lean angle.
FYI, here's the length of the different forks you can use for such a project:
GSX R K : 740 mm
GSX R G/H: 765 mm
Bandit : 780 mm
GS 1000 original : 775 mm
GS 1100 Katana: 850 mm.
I believe the best choices are eitheir GSX R K yokes with bandit tubes ( 43 mm) or GSX R G/H complete fork (41 mm).
The GSX R G/H combination will require the use of the original 18" front wheels which is good for ground clearance but requires expensive replacement disk brakes.
I believe this is the setup used by Posplayer?
On my GS 1000 XP as I have the GSX R K setup, I will eitheir use a custom stepped top yoke or an 18" front wheel from the rare GSX R 1100 J model.
Here's the bike in it's current definition:
