hi can anyone tell me if the 1.5 slide cut on my vm33 carbs will work ok on my 1981 gs1100. Sudco states that the 1.5 cut is for kz 1000-1100 bikes. thanks

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
the slide cut indicates a measure of air the engine gets at idle.
you can offset either with a pilot jet size.
if the air screws tune in at at 3+ turns out will need a bigger pilot
or smaller slide cut.
vice versa is also true. ( mix screw less than 1 turn)
this is such a super micro tunning change i wonder what kind of running condition are you trying to fix??
the smoothies are prone to bad low idle and causing the engine to fall on it's face if you quickly stab the throttle.
I have found that setting a HIGHER idle speed(2200~2400rpm) AND easing the throttle off of the idle stop with a gentle touch helps get the engine to redline quicker.
I only use mine in a racing enviroment NOT on the street, that would drive me crazy trying to tune 'em to run right the way I expect a street machine to run.
for the street CV carbs totally rule for smooth idle and transition from pilot circut through bypass on to the needle circuts and eventually the main jet!

Thanks for the reply. I found this bike leaning against a shed, and struck a deal with owner for $200.
The bike sat uncovered for 10 years. The tank rusted out on top and as a result the carbs
sat with water in the bowls resulting in lots of pitting everywhere. The carbs are junk. I found the smoothies at a swap meet real cheap, $50.00.
I was hoping to be able to run them with my yoshi pipe and k&ns. Are the VM33s for track use only? Does anyone run them on the street? Should I be looking for stock carbs?
