A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

$10 spy camera

I cant get the software to install and have been googling for software for it and have found a couple of comments.

Tkent. A review I watched (sorry no keepy linky) mentioned that you are best to upload the video to your pc and watch it from there as the device upload speed isn't fast enough to stream from the device so results in jerks and pauses etc. Dunno if that helps.

The other thing I found (no, not the software) was that these are a clone of a better quality device (Model:SCI-DVR80 or MD80)with a couple more buttons. Which has now been superseded (hence flood of knock offs of the original) by the Model: SCI-DVR90 Price: $129.00 .... 10x the $

Lol. I've already given half of mine away, just waiting for the calls to start coming in. how do i get it to work.

You don't need any software for the camera to work. It basically asks like a storage device.

I figured that may be the case but thought maybe the web cam function would be able to be accessed without a memory card installed if the software was installed to the pc. My lap top doesn't recognise it when plugged in (prolly cause of no memory card) and doesn't appear to have a web cam icon or driver. I will try it on my desk top shortly.

Got a 8GB Micro SD card and set the time (Tag file). Windows 7 wouldn't recognise it when plugged in as anything other than a flash drive till I managed to open the driver then it also recognised it as a camera device. (still cant get it to work as a web cam)

Went for a 30 min drive (in cage) and took some footage. Watched it straight off the memory card and it streamed faultlessly. :D

Picture quality while not top of the line was way better than it should be for the $.:D

Have worked out that my helmet wont allow mounting with a slip in type bracket because of the hinge for the internal sun visor so am velcroe mounting it just to the front of the helmet to the side of my big nose.

Will post a video after I have gone for a bike ride.

you know that the only thing yours is going to show is your gauges and Jethro's tail light...

Bawhahah well we know it will never show your taillights that's for sure! :D

BULL! I totally lined up in front of you! :p

I figure that I did damn well for my first chain drive bike, brand new to me, first time at the strip, still really new to riding all together. More experience at the track and I think that you will see a nice jump in my times. :)

Sorry for the Hijack. I was planning on buying one or two of these also. for $10 a pop all said and done.. they are worth it.

I finally just decided to mount my camera on the chin of the helmet. This way I have easy access to the buttons and can see them if I look in the mirror. The Shoei helmet is a little cramped inside so even though it would fit under the visor, the buttons would have been a real trick to push and see the light.

I will still try and tape over the mic to avoid wind noise.

Used some Velcro like Flaming Chainsaws did. I used the little mount that angles so I can get the feild of view directed properly.

Looks good Posplayr! Just make sure to wear the lanyard while riding ;).

OK, took a nice little ride on the new XT today, the camera worked fine, but I move my head far too much to use a helmet camera. It's good enough that you guys can judge the camera, if not my aiming abilities. How can I load a fairly long video on here?

How long is the video? You can upload them to Youtube or Photobucket then post the link here.

I have been having trouble mounting mine in the helmet (may have to try externally Like Jim did)

Can't fit it (straight) on the inside of the chin bar

Cover over the hinge point on the internal sun visor prevents sliding in a pvc angle/bracket.

Have sewn velcroe onto helmet liner and packed for horizontal alignment ok and can open and close (the flip face) and internal sun visor (just), but the movement of the liner and squish effect of the padding once my mellon is cramed in has made attempts thus far a pretty sad afair:o. Mainly because the camera is cockeyed.

Back to the drawing board:cool:

Have had to figure out what windows live is, so I could upload a youtube from MS moviemaker.

Not very flash due to **** poor alignment of the camera pointing down to the left and the helmets internal sun visor clipping the picture at the top. But at least it gives some idea of the great value for money :D

I guess I wont get the cameraman job on the next round of intrepid journeys:o

Not bad for $10! I was waiting for someone to post it while riding. I think I will be the next person to invest $10 on one of these.

BTW, you are driving on the wrong side of the road;)!

Think I'll have to look in to one of these. For $10 that looks pretty good!Maybe take you guys on a Sunday morning commute on Sooke Rd.
Edit: They are $14.11 to Canada, what a rip off!Really think I'm going to do this.
Edit 2;Did it,now lets see if the Canada Post strike messes up getting it.Looked down the listings and got it for $13.

Has anyone tried mounting on a mirror ? Just wondering if the lead weights that stop the mirror from vibrating would be steady enough for a camera.

Hi,

I got my little camera in the mail today. Then I realized that I didn't have a microSD card. :(

Looks like I get to pay a visit to the computer store. Darn.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
