A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1000G 17" rear wheel fit a 1100GK?

I am looking at increasing the cornering clearance & handling responsiveness of my GK.
I was wondering about replacing the rear wheel with one from a GS1000G. Seems like it should be a direct fit & would raise the back up a half inch. I would expect that the GK & the 1000G's have pretty much the same frame geometry & drive/disc brake layout. Seems like a simple swap.
Also, are the 17" G wheels tubeless?
So, I'd get a little more cornering clearance out of the deal.
This would also knock the highway RPM's down a couple % too (another good thing).

I believe the wheels are interchangeable, but have not personally verified. Only concern I'd have is to make sure you have enough room inside the inner fender on full shock compression.

I believe the 17" shafty rears are tubeless applicable, but have only seen one such wheel so can't guarantee that one either.

Old member here Grandpa used both 16" and 17" rear wheels on his GK. Had something like 135k miles on that bike, and would have a spare tire mounted up and then just swap when the time came for new rubber.

I've just done this recently, it was a direct swap, no mods required and tons of clearance. There are two spoke designs so you'll want to check that when buying if you want matching rims, also the 17" is 2.25 wide instead of 2.5. And yes they are tubeless, mine is anyways.

The 17" rear shafty wheel is 2.5" wide. You might want to check again. The 16" is 2.75"

Correct, beg yr pardon, knew it was 0.25 smaller, one slap upside head for providing erroneous GS information! :D
