DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Which is better? The 36's from the Slingshot 750 or the 38's from 1100?

JM

The 750 had 38's the 1100 36 & 40's. I ran 38's on an 1166 kit etc and it was terrible with a dynojet kit fitted and without. Id stick with the 36mm efe(1150) carbs or get yourself a real set of flatslide mikuni(rs's) could workout cheaper in the longrun than paying a heap load of dyno time just to get the gsxr carbs to run smoothly.

A set of 36mm 1990 GSXR 11 carbs are on my 1150 Kat. I intially ran the carbs on a stock engine and I was really shocked at the improvement in throttle response.

Where the stock carbs took a bit of time to do what was asked, the GSXR felt more split second responsive.

Then the problems arose. I must have fouled 24 plugs before I got it to run again.

Now they're feeding the 1150 with big bore kit I got talked into.

The off idle performance is annoying and most likely worse than stock. Constant speeds below 30 mph are difficult. If I did all the things everyone here tells you to do they may run better.

Be prepared to do much fiddling. Float height had to be leaned 4mm, a jet kit installed (never tryed stock internals) Pilots are 30, air/fuel 2 turns, needles middle notch, mains 142.5 with K&N Pods and a pipe.

The stock 1150 with stock carbs, jet kit and pods feels sedate compared to the other carbs.

The GSXR throttle cable was shortened as well as the idle adjustment knob. It was touching the cam chain tensioner.

Suzuki RF900 (early 90's) also used essentially the same Mikuni 36mm's as the air/oil cooled early Gixxers...these can be scored sometimes on ebay much cheaper than the GSXR listed ones, which get bid high pretty quick.....I got a nice looking set of these for $40.00, though have yet to install on the 1100 .

Tony.
