A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Check to see if the push cable is actually pulling the slides closed when you close the throttle as it should. Also make sure there's some free play in the closed position so they aren't being held open slightly.

One more thing, do any of the vacuum nipples covering the sync ports have cracked rubbers?

Yep checked the free play and they slides close as they should.

Check the cables first. Sync the carbs & then adjust the mixture screws correctly. Set the idle at about 2500 rpm to sync the carbs. Also, are the float heights correct? Ray.

Ray I don't have the float heights or for that matter any info on these things...

Where can I find some info?

Your problem sounds to me like a broken or cracked slide. some of these RS carbs came with carbon fiber slides that were prone to braking or there way out of sync.
Pop the float bowls off and see what jets are in them.

38RS carbs jetting
Main jet -137.5
pilot jet - 22.5
needle - 9chyo-99 clip on 4th notch from top
needle jet - y-6
fuel screw 1/2 turn out
this jetting should get you very close to perfect

,
I have had a look at the jets in the carbs.

Main jet 135
Pilot jet 17.5
Fuel screw 1/2 turn
Needle jet looks like 8?
need a magnifying glass.

I obviously need to strip these completely.

The offending set of carbs.

and I can only assume that the little jet in the last picture is the needle jet? I have no idea about these carbs..!

Again I need to strip and reassemble to understand how they work. When purchased they were from an old guy who said he had fullly rebuilt them and they were off his 1135EFE.

The difference in the VIN is in the middle JS1GU73AxC210xxxx vs D210 (82 is C210, 83 is D210xxxx).
Also, the brake pedal is aluminum in 83, metal in 82.

I hope to have the 1100EZ this week and I will check all the numbers and post
Thanks

Pilot jets are too small. His engine combo was different than yours so try the 22.5's first.

the needle is.... 9chy6 on the 4th clip from the bottom or one down from the top. No mention of 9chy"O" - "99" on the needle.

thanks

The normal position of the needle is groove#3 from the top (middle position). Yours is 2 grooves leaner than standard. I'd suggest trying the needle in groove #3 and see how it runs.

Hanging up

Hanging up

Yes, get the larger pilots and try the raised needle clip position and don't forget to sync them.
A note, usually, but not always, the hanging up and slow to return to idle is a sign of being lean. There are other factors as well, but this usually it after you made sure not kinked cables and dirt in the carbs.
